Let's celebrate the first full week of the 2015 Major League Baseball season with scintillating bets made over/under the MLB odds. We predict what will happen in rubber matches & series sweeps.

Detroit Tigers vs. Cleveland Indians (Sunday, 1:10 PM ET)
The pitching matchup here is Kyle Lobstein for the Tigers and T.J. House for the Indians. Lobstein came aboard the Tigers’ rotation in the middle of the 2014 season, when injuries and a lack of quality from other players in the farm system pressed him into spot duty. Lobstein did well, given the circumstances. He posted a 4.35 overall ERA, but if you break that down a little more, he pitched well in five of seven starts, giving up no more than three runs in those five games. He got tagged in one game, giving up six runs in 4 2/3 innings. He also gave up four runs in five innings in another rocky outing.

The interesting thing about forming MLB picks for this matchup, then, is that Lobstein was very good in one outing against Cleveland but poor in the other. The first outing was a two-run performance in 5.1 innings. Two weeks later, he gave up four runs in five innings.

Cleveland starter T.J. House was originally scheduled for Saturday in this series, but he was pushed back to Sunday. House has a career 3.35 ERA, based on his 2014 season. He did not pitch against Detroit in that season, so he’s going to be a mystery to the Tigers’ hitters.

That being the case, we are predicing a final score under the total of 8.5 runs.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Cincinnati Reds (Sunday, 1:10 PM ET)
Carlos Martinez is the starter for St. Louis, while the Reds delayed their announcement of a starter until the past 24 hours and came up with Raisel Iglesias. Martinez, converted from a reliever, made nine appearances against Cincinnati last season, posting a 3.09 ERA. He gave up four runs in 11.2 innings. He gave up no homers and allowed just two walks matched against 16 strikeouts. That’s pretty good, but how he moves to a starting role could lead to problems for him.

Iglesias, signed from Cuba, will be making his first Major League regular season appearance in this game. He’s a total question mark. And with Martinez being a relatively unknown as a starter too, I’ll go over in this one because of the questionable pitching.

MLB Pick: Over 8

Minnesota Twins vs. Chicago White Sox (Sunday, 2:20 PM ET)
Phil Hughes is the starter for the Twins, while Chris Sale toes the rubber for the Chicago White Sox. Hughes was pretty good last season, registering a 3.52 ERA. However, he did not fare well against the Pale Hose. Chicago sent his ERA to 6.30, touching up Hughes for 14 earned runs in 20 innings. Sale rang up a 2.95 ERA against Minnesota last season in 21.1 innings of work. He’s coming off the 15-day disabled list here and will be limited to 95 pitches or six innings. Even so, he’s a stud and going up against a struggling lineup. We’ll look for that to lead the way to an under.

MLB Pick: Under 7.5 at BetOnline
