The Philadelphia Phillies are one of the hottest teams in baseball. Don't believe me? They came in to the series yesterday winning seven out of their last 10, so they're worthy of our MLB picks!

It makes sense for Philadelphia to be the underdog in this spot, but this is good value on a team that has been finding ways to win. Odds makers came out making Philadelphia about a +150 favorite across the board. The best odds I have found are at 5 dimes where you can get the Phillies at +153. This a game they definitely can win.

Philadelphia Phillies
For the Phillies David Buchanan gets the start and comes in with a 7.23 ERA, 1.75 WHIP, 25 strikeouts, and a 2-6 record. The 26-year-old has struggled in his second year in the major leagues. In his last 10 starts he has had some tough outings giving up seven earned runs on two occasions, but also in four of his other starts he only gave up three earned runs. A few starts back in San Francisco he had his best start this season allowing just one earned run over five innings. I don't see him shutting the door on a pretty good Arizona offense, but he has the ability to limit the damage enough to allow his offense to get some runs on the other end. This a good spot for him to bounce back from a bad outing against the Dodgers.

On the year Philadelphia ranks 27th in runs scored per game at 3.73, 26 in OPS at .680, and 16th in team batting average hitting .252. Surprisingly they have a better batting average than some of the teams that are making runs towards the pennant. In their last 10 games they are averaging more than five runs per contest and just look like a completely different team when compared to the first half of the season. They should be able to score more than a few today off a subpar pitcher for the Diamondbacks.

Arizona Diamondbacks
Jeremy Hellickson takes the mound for the Dbacks with a 5.06 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, 97 strikeouts, and a 7-8 record. He is been really hot and cold all season, but he does pitch better at home where is ERA drops to 4.03. Still, he is not the type of pitcher that is going to throw up a lot of zeros against a hot hitting team like the Phillies. Good value to go against him today.

At the plate Arizona ranks eighth in runs scored per game at 4.38, 10th in OPS at .725, and sixth in batting average hitting .262 as a team. In their last 10 games they are averaging around four runs a contest but that number is a little bit skewed because of an 11 run outburst they had against the Nationals. Without that one game under their belt overall they have struggled a little bit on the offensive end this second half of the season.

At +150 or over this is good value on a Philadelphia team playing solid baseball. The pitching matchup is definitely not one of the marquee matchups of the day so look for both teams to score. At worst this game is a coin flip considering how well Philadelphia's playing at this time. It seems they are that type of team that becomes a little bit dangerous this time of year, a team playing loose, gaining confidence, with nothing to lose. Back the Phillies today with some plus money value with your MLB picks.
