Los Angeles batters have ruled the NLDS so far, one reason why the MLB odds favor the Dodgers to finish off the Diamondbacks in Arizona on Monday.

Season MLB Record: 85-88-4 (+0.63)

Facing sweeps on Sunday, elimination was staved off by the Red Sox and Yankees. Now we get to see if the Arizona Diamondbacks can do the same Monday night in Game 3 of their NLDS against the Los Angeles Dodgers. TBS will carry the first pitch from Chase Field at 10:08 PM (ET), Yu Darvish (10-12, 3.86) and Zack Greinke (17-7, 3.20) providing the initial mound matchup that finds LA -110 at 5Dimes with 9 for the total.

Offense has been the star of the series so far, most of it coming from the Dodgers in taking the first two games. Yasiel Puig and Justin Turner have driven in nine of 17 runs plated by Los Angeles, and the bullpen has made up for poor starts by Clayton Kershaw and Rich Hill. Offense was also en vogue when the clubs met in Phoenix during the regular season, ‘over’ bettors cashing 6 of 9 while the Diamondbacks enjoyed the same success.

Seager 6-for-11 Lifetime With 2 HRs Vs. Greinke

It has been two weeks since Darvish was on the mound, and such a layoff always leads to mystery how a pitcher will perform, especially early in the game. Darvish did pitch well over his last three September starts after struggling earlier in the month, allowing just one earned run in his final 22.1 innings of work while striking out 21. The 31-year-old also helped the Dodgers to a win in Phoenix back in August, whiffing 10 Snakes over five innings.

Given a 6-0 lead in the NL Wild Card Game last week, Greinke couldn’t hang around long enough to figure into the decision as -165 chalk on the MLB odds vs. Colorado. That marked his third consecutive assignment that lasted four innings or less. The 14-year veteran is making the 11th postseason start of his career, and Arizona split his four appearances vs. Los Angeles this year while Greinke pitched to a 3.65 ERA against his former team.

Umpire Notes, Mother Nature & A Free Pick

Crew chief Gerry Davis is up nest in the umpire rotation to call balls and strikes following a regular-season campaign in which his games went 10-17-2 O/U/P. None of his 29 plate assignments this year took place in Arizona, and his last four games behind the mask at Chase Field were ‘under’ winners.

We will have to wait and see if the roof will be open or not at Chase Field tonight; the forecast is pretty nice with clear skies and temps in the low-80s at first pitch before dropping into the 70s with a 10-12 mph NE breeze (in from right). The early pressure in this game is squarely on Greinke, and I don’t believe he’ll be up to task with a free baseball pick on Los Angeles completing the sweep.
