Miami Marlins vs. Milwaukee Brewers
Tom Koehler and Wily Peralta are not starters that I trust to shut down opposing lineups these days. Koehler has a 4.50 ERA in 4 starts and got lit up in his one trip to Milwaukee last season allowing 7 runs on 9 hits in just 4.1 innings last season when he pitched here at Miller Park.

The Brewers certainly have potential to score some runs here and the Marlins should absolutely be able to light up the scoreboard as well in this game against Wily Peralta who has been downright awful in the first month of the season.

Peralta has allowed 4+ runs in four of his five starts this season with a 7.40 ERA with 12 walks and 32 hits allowed in 24.1 innings pitched. Peralta also struggled big time in his lone start against Miami in 2015 as he gave up 6 runs on 9 hits in just 5 innings of work against the Marlins here at Miller Park. Both bullpens are far from trustworthy as well providing all the ingredients for a potential slugfest in Milwaukee on Sunday afternoon. The Over/Under on MLB odds for this game has been set at 9.

Houston Astros vs. Oakland Athletics
Doug Fister has been a recurring theme in previous articles and videos that I have done in MLB this season. He had a 2015 season where everything that could go wrong for him did. He struggled early, got injured and ended up on the DL for an extended period of time and then never regained his form when he returned and was relegated to bullpen work with Washington.

Things haven’t gotten much better for Fister in 2016 with his new team the Houston Astros. He has a 5.56 ERA allowing 14 runs on 23 hits in 22.2 innings of work while issuing as many walks as strikeouts (11) in his first five starts and has been plagued by the long ball with 5 homers hit against him so far this season. Teams are just 4-6 in Fister’s last 10 starts against Oakland and even against a somewhat up and down Oakland lineup,

I don’t exactly trust Fister to have success on the mound here. Rich Hill is a veteran lefty that has been a journeyman in MLB for years having been with 7 teams before coming to Oakland but there is very real potential that he has only found his footing now thanks to the evolution of his fastball which is as good as it’s been and has been a big complement to his off speed pitches.

Hill has notched an incredible 37 strikeouts in 26 innings over his first five starts and he actually has more strikeouts than hits allowed which stands at 24 which speaks volumes about how good his stuff has been throughout the month of April. Opposing hitters have looked baffled at the plate against Hill including the likes of the Tigers and Yankees who combined to score just 1 earned run in 13 innings in Hill’s last two trips to the mound.

I’m ready to ‘buy in’ on Rich Hill right now and I think the Athletics will have the advantage and win here in the series finale against the slumping Houston Astros who are just 2-8 in their last 10 games and 7-16 overall on the season, so I'll add them to my MLB picks.
