Friday, two road teams that are playing decent baseball will send solid left-handed starters to the hill, creating betting opportunities with value. Read on as our handicapper shares his MLB picks of the day.

The Yankees are on a roll, they're coming off an 8-1 homestand and Aaron Judge is on fire, stepping up after the team sent Gary Sanchez to the 10-day disabled list because of a right biceps strain. Judge leads New York with five home runs and 12 RBI and he is batting .277 but another reason why the Yankees are 10-5 right now has been CC Sabathia's resurgence.

After four disappointing seasons, Sabathia has turned back the clock and is pitching like an ace, going 2-0 with a 1.47 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP in three starts and he has given up just one home run. The left-hander is 1-0 with a 1.64 ERA in two road starts and the Pirates are 1-6 in night games, 1-4 against left-handed starters and 1-5 against the runline in home games.

The Pirates suffered a three-game sweep against the Cardinals and Starling Marte's 80-game suspension for using Nandrolone (a performance-enhancing drug) gives them a huge hole in center field because of his power, defense, speed and athleticism. I'm backing Sabathia and the explosive New York offense on the runline at +153 MLB odds

Cubs vs. Reds

The Reds are off to a great start and they're leading the NL Central but they will host an inspired Cubs team that has two consecutive come-from-behind wins over the Brewers and their ace Jon Lester has pitched extremely well so far. Lester has three no-decisions in three starts but he has posted a 1.00 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP and he has 17 strikeouts and just five walks with no home runs allowed.

The Cubs are 4-1 when playing against a team with a winning record, 4-2 as a road favorite of -125 to -175 and 2-0 on the road when the total is between 8 and 8.5 while the Reds are 4-5 in home games and 0-1 against left-handed starters. The Cubs had an extra day of rest, their offense is waking up and Lester has been almost unhittable. I like Lester to get his first win of the season here so I'm taking the Cubs -163 with my MLB picks
