The best bet for Padres vs. Rangers in 'under' as both starting pitchers are currently in very good form & neither team's generating offensive production with any consistency lately.

Padres and Rangers conclude Three Game Set in Arlington
The Rangers will host the Padres in Arlington, Texas at 3:05 PM ET on Sunday. This will be the finale of a three game series, and the teams have alternated wins during the first two.

Sunday's Starting Pitchers
The Padres will send right-hander Tyson Ross to the mound on Sunday. After enduring a less than impressive start to the season, Ross has really been locked in during recent starts. The Padres hurler has displayed stellar form over his previous four, posting a 2.35 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP. Ross will be facing a Texas team today that draws an average of 2.92 walks per game. He’s gone 16-5 under the total since 2014 versus opponents that draw an average of 3.0 or less walks per game.

Yovani Gallardo has been the hottest starting pitcher in the American League over the past six weeks. Gallardo has compiled a spectacular 1.06 ERA, and allowed no earned runs in five of those eight outings. In two starts versus San Diego last season, Gallardo allowed just 1 earned run on 8 hits while walking 5 in 15.0 innings pitched. The Rangers hurler has gone 8-1 under the total in 2015 when the total is 8.0 or 8.5.

Both Teams in Offensive Funk
The Padres have averaged a paltry 2.3 runs per game and have a poor team batting average of .221 during their previous seven contests. San Diego is 6-1-1 under the total in their last eight games. On a positive note, the Padres pitching staff has held opponents to a team batting average of just .208 in their last seven games.

The Rangers are averaging a terrible 2.3 runs per game, and have a team batting average of only .219 during their previous seven outings. Texas is coming off a 6-5 loss on Saturday, and they’ve gone 10-1 under the total this season following a one run loss.

Final Analysis
With two starting pitchers currently in very good form, and with neither team generating offensive production with any consistency over the past week, I like this to be a low scoring game. One of my MLB picks on Sunday will reflect that prediction. At the time of this writing, 5Dimes will be getting my call based on a favorable price.
