Orioles head out West to face A’s
The A’s and Orioles are set to begin a three game series in Oakland tonight at 10:05 PM ET. This will be the first meeting of the season between these American League teams. They’ve gone 10-3 over the total in their thirteen encounters since 2013, and that includes 6-1 during games played at Oakland.

Starting Pitchers
Tyler Wilson will get the start tonight for Baltimore. The 25 year old right-hander will be making just his second career MLB start. He was just called up on Sunday from AAA Norfolk where he was 5-5 in sixteen starts with a 3.05 ERA and 1.16 WHIP. Wilson will be replacing Chris Tillman tonight. Tillman’s next start was pushed backed to this upcoming Friday while he continues to nurse a left ankle injury.

Right-hander Jesse Chavez will be on the mound for Oakland on Monday. Chavez has struggled a bit on the road in 2015, but that’s certainly not been the case at home. Chavez has compiled a stellar 2.42 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in eight home starts. This will be his first career start versus Baltimore.

Orioles need to pick it up on Road
Baltimore enters this west coast road trip with an awful 19-30 (.388) record in away games. That’s in stark contrast to their 34-21 (.618) mark at Camden Yards this year. They’ll look to carry over the momentum from going 7-2 in their previous nine games, and that includes winning their last two road tilts. However, when tightening up Baltimore’s 2015 road resume it’s not very pretty. They’ve gone a dismal 12-26 on the road versus right-handed starting pitchers, and are an even worse 7-22 at night in 29 away games. Baltimore will be attempting to win three straight on the road for just a second time in 2015.

Oakland’s recent Superb Pitching and Anemic Offense
The A’s have allowed 3 runs or less in ten of their previous sixteen games. Unfortunately, they’ve also scored 3 runs or less in fourteen of their last nineteen games as well. Needless to say, wagering on under the total has been a profitable venture in Oakland games during recent weeks. The A’s have gone over the total in just 8 of their previous thirty-two games, and surpassed the number on only four occasions during their last twenty-one at home. Oakland will look to win their third game in a row tonight for the first time since 6/25/2015.

Final Analysis
This game is a very tough call. Baltimore is clearly the better team on paper, but their road woes this season make it very difficult for me to place any degree of confidence in them tonight. In addition, they’ll have a rookie pitcher tonight who’ll be making his first career start on the road. Jesse Chavez has shown me enough in his performances at home, in order to have a small lean toward Oakland for one of my MLB picks on Monday. According to the MLB odds board at Heritage, they allow us to lay the least amount of juice on this wager.
