Twins host the Indians in a Saturday evening game, the Indians have been a solid road favorite. Our expert capper checked the MLB odds and found an angle he likes, read on to get his pick.

Two teams heading in different directions meet today in Minnesota as the Twins host the Cleveland Indians. Minnesota will start veteran left-hander Hector Santiago versus spot starter for Cleveland Mike Clevinger. Cleveland has been made a solid road favorite in this matchup but is there any value in backing Minnesota?

Cleveland Indians
Mike Clevinger takes the mound for the Tribe with a 5.30 ERA and 1.50 whip making just his seventh start of the season. Clevinger has been used mostly out of the bullpen recently but has pitched really well for the most part in his last three appearances allowing just a run in about five innings of work. He has faced Minnesota one time this season in a short start where he allowed two earned runs off seven hits in four innings with Cleveland winning 9-2 and that game back in early August. On a closer look that is some pretty decent damage against him and I think this gives Minnesota who counters with a good veteran starter a bit of value on the plus money line. Most likely Clevinger will give up his share of runs today.

Offensively Cleveland is just a different monster hitting at home and hitting away. Their batting average drops from around .290 at home to just around .240 on the road as well as scoring just under six runs at home to around four runs on the road.

Minnesota Twins
Hector Santiago takes the mound for Minnesota with a 4.91 ERA and 1.38 whip along with a 6.39 ERA versus Cleveland this season. On closer look, the Indians did most of that damage in one start against him back when he was pitching for Los Angeles as he gave up five earned runs off of seven hits in just over an inning of work. He has bounced back nicely against them allowing a total of just four earned runs off of eight hits in about 11 innings pitched including shutting them out over six innings in Cleveland his last time facing them at the end of August. Although he has had a season to forget I like Santiago and he has the ability to keep any good hitting team low in the numbers despite a couple games this season in which he got lit up.

At the plate, Minnesota is arguably the best hitting losing record team in the American League. Although they have lost well more than their fair sure games their offense is still decent ranking 11th in the major leagues in runs scored per game, and 12th in both batting average and OPS. This a good spot for them to pick up a win and try to finish the season on a decent note.

MLB odds
Oddsmakers have Minnesota at a +110 or better underdog across the board. For my MLB pick, I'm going to back them getting some pretty good plus money like at Bookmaker +116. This is good value in backing a decent hitting team in Minnesota with a pitcher on the mound in Santiago that shut the same Cleveland team down just two weeks ago.
