In a shocking turnaround of events, the LA Dodgers now have a 3-game lead on San Francisco for divisional supremacy in the NL West. Not ONLY because they beat the Giants, but also because the momentum has swung dramatically for these teams. Join Expert capper for MLB pick with the most value.

San Francisco Giants (Moore) vs. LA Dodgers (Stripling)
In a pitching mismatch that favors the Dodgers, we will back the LA Dodgers’ momentum, as our MLB pick, on their strong home field to get the sweep and continue to send the Giants reeling.

San Francisco entered the All Star Break on a 40-15 run. That is an almost unbelievable winning percentage of .727 and begged for a reversal of form. Yet, it was an even numbered year – remember, San Fran won the World Series in 2010, 2012 and 2014 – and the big 3 of the San Fran pitching staff (Bumgarner, Cueto and Samardzija) each had great first halves. If veterans Peavy and Cain could simply win half their games at the bottom of the rotation, the Giants looked capable of catching a then, struggling Cubs team for the best record in the National League.

Since the All Star Break, however, results have gone totally upside down for San Fran. They are an MLB worst (11-25) with only 11 QS in those 36 games from their proud rotation. Now, they enter the game not only 3 games behind the Dodgers for the NL West lead, but also clinging to a ½ game lead over the Cardinals for the top Wild Card spot. I still believe the Giants are going to turn things around, but until they do, they are pure fade material.

Results have been totally dichotomous for the Dodgers in July and August. It looked like they were toast, when their ace, Kershaw, went on the DL with back issues. Now, he is slowly rounding into form that will signal his return, while the Dodgers continue their upward momentum. The recent run is now 39-22. After the first 2 wins this week against the Giants, they are now 9-1 on this field against their rivals. They have even pulled within 2 games of Washington for the 2nd best record in the National League.

Final analysis
Turning to tonight’s pitching matchup of Moore vs. Stripling, provides us with an additional edge. Moore was acquired at the trade deadline to shore up the backend of the rotation. But in 4 August starts for his new team, Moore is 0-3 in 23 IP, allowing 17 BB with a 4.70 ERA. Hardly what the Giants hoped for! For the Dodgers, Stripling has been a pleasant surprise. In his most recent 7 appearances, including 3 starts, Stripling is 2-1 with a 2.83 ERA. Earlier this year, in an April 8thmatchup with the Giants, Stripling took a no-hitter through 7 IP against San Fran. I invite you to put the MLB odds in your favor and join me in my pick on the LA Dodgers tonight.
