Francisco Lindor and the Indians are home after a long road trip, and they’re favored on the MLB odds Monday night when the Tribe entertain the Boston Red Sox.

MLB Season Record: 64-65-3 (+1.24)

For the third time in the last four Mondays, the Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Indians are listed on the baseball betting card. This time they’re in Cleveland for the start of a 4-game series that pits Eduardo Rodriguez (4-3, 3.97) against Mike Clevinger (6-5, 3.75) in the 7:10 PM (ET) matchup at Progressive Field, the Tribe favored between -125 and -130 with 9½ runs for the scoreboard hurdle.

Both the Sox and Indians reach the 21st week of the 2017 campaign with 5-game leads at the top of their divisions. Boston just took 2 of 3 from the Yankees for the second consecutive weekend to move within 4½ of Houston for the best record in the AL. Cleveland is returning home after an 11-game, 4-city road trip that included a stop in Boston last Monday.

Last Win For Rodriguez Was May 26

Rodriguez has failed to decision his last four times out, two of those efforts going into the quality start column and the Red Sox winning three. 5Dimes had him and Boston -161 chalk last Wednesday against the Cardinals, the Red Sox rallying with a 3-run ninth inning at Fenway for the 5-4 victory. He missed facing the Indians in the previous series and will be chuckin’ from the mound in Cleveland for the first time in his career.

Clevinger was used in long relief at Minnesota last Thursday, suffering the defeat when he allowed the Twins to score twice in his 2.2 innings of work. The former Citadel star has struggled at home in 2017, recording a 5.08 ERA in six starts and a pair of bullpen calls. The Red Sox pounded on him in Boston three weeks ago, chasing Clevinger before he could get an out in the fourth and plating five runs thanks in part to his wildness (4 BB).

Rivalry Trends, Mother Nature & A Free Pick

The Red Sox took two games at Fenway in late July, the third rained out and made up last Monday when Trevor Bauer and the Tribe prevailed, 7-3. Boston won the regular season series a year ago before the Indians swept the Red Sox in the ALDS. Including the two playoff matchups on this field in 2016, nine of the last 11 meetings in Cleveland have gone to the home team, totals splitting the last eight.

There is a slight chance of a passing shower this afternoon and early evening in Cleveland, but nothing that should prevent the game from being played in its entirety. Muggy temps in the low 80s will greet the first pitch with a light breeze from the south (out to left). I’ll take a flyer on the underdogs with my free baseball pick.
