The Yankees extended their home winning streak to 15 games with a 7-6 walk-off win over the Astros on Thursday. It's New York's longest home winning streak since 1961 and was Houston's first loss in its last eight games against a team with a winning record.

Here are my MLB picks and predictions for Friday’s game between the Astros and Yankees (odds via FanDuel Sportsbook and DraftKings Sportsbook; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

The Yankees range from as low as -120 Moneyline favorites at DraftKings to -135 at BetMGM. There has been good two-way action thus far, as 65% of the tickets and 50% of the cash are backing the Yankees' Moneyline odds.

Most sportsbooks are in unison on the 7.5 projected run total, with FanDuel the lone exception offering 8. As of early Friday morning, the Over had received 85% of the bets but just 58% of the cash.

Astros vs. Yankees Projected Pitchers

Justin Verlander (8-3, 2.30 ERA, 0.89 WHIP) vs. Luis Severino (4-1, 3.27 ERA, 1.06 WHIP)

Verlander is coming off his shortest outing of the season when he allowed seven runs (four earned) in 3 2/3 innings against the Chicago White Sox. It was Verlander's first of 13 starts in which he did not pitch at least five innings. His ERA has risen each month, finishing April with a 1.73 ERA, posting a 2.27 ERA in May, and so far pitching to a 2.92 ERA through four June starts.

Severino is also coming off his worst outing of the season. He allowed a season-high five earned runs and four walks over five innings at the Toronto Blue Jays. Severino has 10.9 strikeouts per nine innings and is on pace for the fifth straight season with a double-digit K/9 rate.

Yankees (-120)

New York's 52-18 record is its third-best start through 70 games since 1930. It erased three-run deficits in its last two wins against the Tampa Bay Rays and Houston and is the only team in the majors with a winning record (21-18) in games it's trailed this season. The Yankees are on pace for 120 wins, which would obliterate the record for wins in a season, and they look invincible at the moment, especially at home.

Under 8 (-118)

Verlander is one of four active starting pitchers with a WHIP lower than 1.00 in their last 80 pitching appearances, as he has a 0.85 WHIP and has gone 45-18 in that span. Verlander has held six Yankees regulars (Joey Gallo, Marwin Gonzalez, Aaron Hicks, Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and Gleyber Torres) to a .167 batting average or lower, and the six are a combined 15-for-123 (.122) against him. That should bode well for the Under, which is 24-9-1 in New York's last 34 games against teams with a winning percentage greater than .600.

Entering Thursday's series opener, Houston's Yordan Alvarez was hitting .452 with a .518 on-base percentage and .904 slugging percentage in his last 20 games. His 1.422 OPS was the highest by an Astros player in any 20-game span (with a minimum of 70 plate appearances) since Lance Berkman in 2008. Alvarez has four home runs in the last three games, and Severino is allowing a .235 average to left-handed hitters compared to a .191 average against righties.
