The Royals have not gotten off to the start that they would’ve liked to the season, while the Angels have been the comeback kids. Friday, they meet in Kansas City and the Royals have been made a decent home favorite ... but that's not where the pick is.

Los Angeles Angels

JC Ramirez gets the start against Kansas City and comes in with a career 5.14 ERA and 1.44 WHIP mostly out of the bullpen. He has only faced Kansas City a few innings in his career and so far this season he has been less than then stellar with one good and one bad outing. The best thing that he has going for him is the fact that Los Angeles has been swinging the bats really well and the Angels' bullpen is doing enough in their relief appearances with a 2.91 ERA and batters hitting just .197 against them.

Los Angeles is hitting .282 is a team and averaging over nine hits per game, ranking third in the major leagues in both categories. What I like about this team so far is the fact the Halos don’t strike out very much and they have a solid .321 batting average on balls in play. They also rank fourth in the league in OPS.

Kansas City Royals

Danny Duffy gets the start for Kansas City, having a solid start to the season allowing just three earned runs off of 11 hits in his 13 innings pitched vs. Minnesota and Houston, respectively. Despite the solid numbers, though, he has had some struggles against the Angels over the past few seasons and comes into this contest with a 4.26 ERA and the Angels hitting .284 against him. More alarming than that is the fact that Kansas City’s bullpen has been unreliable with a 7.86 ERA and batters hitting .255 against them.

The biggest issue, however, for Kansas City has been its ice-cold bats hitting .199 as a team as well as only .226 on balls in play. Across the board they rank in the bottom five the league in most categories despite swinging a bit better Thursday. There should be some hope considering this is a veteran lineup that will most likely turn things around in the near future. This is good plus money to go against the Royals for now.
