The 2016 MLB All-Star Game takes place tonight at Petco Park. Although overlooked, the implications for this game are huge. See who is our MLB Pick and why.

2016 MLB All-Star Game
First pitch is set for 8:00 p.m. EST tonight at Petco Park in San Diego, California. This game can be seen on the FOX Network. According to listed MLB Odds, oddsmakers expect this to be a low-scoring affair as the total for the game is listed at 7.5 (-110) and the National League is a slight betting favorite.

Pitcher-Friendly Park
Although we saw Giancarlo Stanton slam a ton of home runs yesterday, we have to remember that those pitches were thrown right where he wanted them. In a matchup of Chris Sale vs. Johnny Cueto. Last season, Cueto was in the American League, but as I've said so many times; he a National League pitcher. I don't expect that to bite him here as Petco Park doesn't allow a lot of runs and there are substitutes in this game.

Red Sox vs. Cubs?
When first glance at the starting lineups, one can't help but see all of the players from these two teams starting. It's quite simple. They're two of the best teams in the league and they also have a chance to make it to the World Series. Obviously, this game means a lot to both teams as home-field advantage in the World Series is very important for a prospective team. You really can't go wrong here with both teams being loaded. although I like the underdogs in this game. The American League has the deeper roster with relievers like Delan Betances and the starting lineups seem to favor the AL.

Boston Has Been Beasting
The American League All-Star starting lineup (+101 at Pinnacle) is so good that Mookie Betts, who is a leadoff man for the Red Sox, is actually hitting 6th in this lineup with 18 HR, 59 RBI, .304 BA, 15 SB. That basically tells it all as 40-year-old David Ortiz, who is having a monster finale for his career is in the cleanup spot.

Expect Big Papi, who is hitting .292 with 22 HR and 72 RBI to want to go out with a bang and be remembered for his talents. I expect a lot from the Red Sox quartet and then to top it off, you have the best player in baseball hitting 2nd in the Amercian League lineup in Mike Trout. Trout is a big game player that's also a top-notch fielder. To make things even more appealing, Jose Altuve and his 14 HR, 51 RBI, .341 BA, and 23 SB is leading off.

In my opinion, Altuve is the most underrated baseball player in the game and now that the Houston Astros are in the American League, that makes this bet even more appealing. I don't know how the oddsmakers came to the conclusion that the National League is the betting favorite as this American League team is one of the best of all time, in my opinion. No, I'm not overreacting, there are no weaknesses. The only concern might be strikeout-artist, Chris Sale as starting pitcher. While Sale is dominant, he can be hit off when he's not on top of his game and that's a concern.

Pee Wee or National League?
I know that the Chicago Cubs are a popular MLB pick to win the World Series, but I'm not loving this National League starting lineup (at SportsInteraction) in comparison to the Amercian League.

You have a lot of "no-namers" on here who are having breakout seasons such as Will Myers (19 HR, 60 RBI, 286 BA, 15 SB) and Marcell Ozuna (17 HR, 47 RBI, .307 BA). Petco Park is Myers' home park and Ozuna has had a better season than his teammate, Giancarlo Stanton, but this will be an uphill climb.

Let's also remember that Carlos Gonazlez is a product of Coors Field and Petco Park is no Coors Field.  This team is carried by Chicago Cubs players in Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo, but Addison Russell doesn't belong here and while Ben Zobrist (13 HR, 47 RBI .388 OBP %) has delivered, Altuve dominates at the leadoff position over this veteran of 35 years of age.

This game comes down to the pitching, but as I stated, Johnny Cueto played poorly as a member of the American League and the Yankees bullpen is the best in the business. I like the American League to win convincingly.
