Our sports handicapping professional has an outstanding record this week on his “MLB Totals of the Day” featured articles. Today he provides us with a breakdown on two plays worth betting.

Padres (Cashner) vs. Braves (Teheran) 12:10 PM ET
The Padres Andrew Cashner enters today in bad form over his last three starts. In those outings he posted a large 7.79 ERA, 1.90 WHIP, and all three games went over the total. San Diego has gone 11-2-1 over the total in their last fifteen games, and is 38-22-1 over the number for the season.

Atlanta will send Julio Teheran to the mound today. Teheran has seen each of his last three starts go over the total, and posted a dismal 7.64 ERA in those outings.  The Braves right-hander has also allowed 13 home runs in just 68 1/3 innings pitched. He’s made three career starts versus the Padres and had a very lofty 5.78 ERA. All of those starts versus San Diego have come since 2013. Teheran has made five starts during the day in 2015, posting an unimpressive 4.61 ERA and 1.73 WHIP. Atlanta is 36-20-1 over the total for the season, including 18-8-2 at home, and 8-2-1 in their last eleven games overall. The Braves bullpen collectively has a less than stellar 4.81 ERA on the year.

I have a strong lean towards this game being a high scoring affair, and my MLB picks on Thursday will be reflective of just that. After browsing through all the major sportsbooks regarding this total, Pinnacle had the best available price.

MLB Pick: Play on the Padres and Braves over 7.5 (+105) at Pinnacle.

Angels (Richards) vs. Rays (Colome) 7:10 PM ET
The Angels Garrett Richards has really struggled during his previous four starts. He posted a terrible 7.92 ERA, 1.91 WHIP, and all four games went over the total. In five road starts this season, the Angels hurler has been far from impressive, posting a 6.04 ERA and 1.58 WHIP. Richards has made three career starts versus Tampa Bay and posted an awful 5.02 ERA, 1.95 WHIP, and walked one more than he struck out.

Alex Colome gets the call on the mound today for Tampa Bay. Colome has been shaky in his last three starts with a 4.15 ERA and 1.67 WHIP. His only career start versus the Angels came on 6/1/2015 and it was one he’d rather forget. Colome allowed 5 earned runs, gave up 9 hits, surrendered 3 home runs, and walked 3 in a 7-3 Tampa Bay loss. Tampa Bay is 3-1-1 over the total versus the Angels this year.

I look for these teams to score early and often in this game today. After shopping for the most favorable price on the total, I opted for Bookmaker to make my wager.

MLB Pick: Play on the Angels and Rays to go over 7.0 (-115) " rel="nofollow" target="_blank" title="Go to BookMaker & Wager Today">at Bookmaker.
