The Baltimore Orioles still have plenty to play for in the final weeks of the regular season, but they are simply overvalued on the MLB odds boards against the Boston Red Sox Friday night.

A Bad Situation
Boston scored just three runs in suffering a three-game sweep against the Pittsburgh Pirates, including a 3-2 setback as +206 road underdogs Thursday, while going UNDER the MLB odds total for the second time in that span.

The Red Sox are hoping that designated hitter David Ortiz can move past a family emergency that had him miss the first two games of that previous series, which is important to consider when making your MLB picks, as he went 0 for 4 with two strikeouts last night.

MLB handicappers will find that the franchise is a forgettable 3-9 as road underdogs of +150 to +175, with the UNDER going 7-4-1 in that situation.

Resting Up
Baltimore manager Buck Showalter has stated that he’d rather have a fresh ball club heading into the playoffs than chase down the Los Angeles Angels for home-field advantage, which means that he intends to rest some key contributors down the stretch.

The Orioles have put together a league-best 30-8 home record since June 30, which can’t be ignored when looking over the baseball odds, especially since they’ve also captured 15 of their last 18 series openers.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the squad is 64-31 versus teams with a losing record in the second half of the season.

Webster
Red Sox starting pitcher Allen Webster (4-3, 6.02 ERA) is coming off a 4-2 road victory over the Kansas City Royals last time out, as he surrendered two runs and four hits over six innings of work.

The right-hander is 3-1 with a 4.91 ERA in four road efforts, with opposing hitters batting just .208 against him (.301 at home).

Webster tossed three scoreless innings in his only career appearance against the Orioles—issuing three walks and striking out two batters.

Gausman
Orioles starting pitcher Kevin Gausman (7-7, 3.57 ERA) hasn’t earned a decision in his last two efforts—allowing two runs and 12 hits over 14 combined innings against the Tampa Bay Rays and New York Yankees.

The right-hander is 4-5 with a 3.92 ERA in 10 home games—serving up just two home runs in 57.1 combined frames.

In five lifetime appearances (two starts) versus the Red Sox, Gausman has compiled a 1-0 record and 1.80 ERA.

Prediction
I’m going to recommend that readers back the Red Sox as one of my free picks, as the Orioles have fallen in defeat in Gausman’s last four trips to the mound, while he’s also never been a favorite higher than -142 during the 2014 campaign.
