Texas Rangers
Colby Lewis gave up one run on four hits in six innings in last night's series opener and Brett Nicholas made a succesful major league debut, collecting two hits and throwing out a runner at second as the Rangers prevailed 7-3. Texas had 14 hits and now they're tied for the AL West lead with the Athletics at 4-4.

The Rangers are currently 12th in the majors with 32 runs scored, 24th with a .226 batting average and 21st with five home runs. Texas is 19th in MLB with a 4.46 ERA and 19th with a 1.39 WHIP.

Seattle Mariners
The Mariners have lost their first four home games, including last night's series opener. Seattle was swept in a three-game weekend series with Oakland, scoring just four runs. Last night, Texas led 7-1 at one point before Nelson Cruz hit his second home run of the season in the eighth inning. Robinson Cano opened the season with four home runs in three games but he is 2-for-16 in four home games. The Mariners rank 17th in the majors with 28 runs scored, 27th with a .219 batting average and 27th with 12 home runs. Texas is 19th in MLB with a 4.46 ERA and 19th with a 1.39 WHIP.

Pitching Matchup
Derek Holland (0-0, 5.40 ERA) vs. Wade Miley (0-0, 7.50 ERA)
Derek Holland gave up three runs and four hits in five innings in his season debut against the Angels last Thursday. Holland has pitched well against the Mariners, going 10-4 with a 3.59 ERA in 21 appearances (17 starts).

Wade Miley allowed five runs on seven hits in six innings in his Seattle debut against Texas last Wednesday to receive a no-decision. Miley did finish with seven strikeouts, but he gave up a three-run home run to Prince Fielder. The left-hander hasn't fared well against the Mariners, going 1-2 with a 4.74 ERA in four starts against them.

Betting Trends
The Rangers are 2-1 as a road underdog of +100 to +125, 3-2 in night games and 3-1 when playing against a team with a losing record. The Mariners are 0-2 as a home favorite of -125 to -150, 0-4 in home games, 2-5 against division opponents, 1-3 against left-handed starters and 1-3 in night games.

Final Analysis
The Mariners are favored on the MLB odds board at -126 while the Rangers are at +116 and the total is set at 7.5. The Mariners are really struggling at home this season and even though they'll eventually get their first win at Safeco Field, I don't see it happening tonight because the Rangers are playing decent baseball and they hit the ball well against Miley last Wednesday, while Holland has enjoyed success against the Mariners. The betting trends also support backing the Rangers. I'm taking Texas +116 with my MLB picks
