This handicapper hit the two-pick on San Francisco's low-scoring victory over Los Angeles Monday night, and expect more winning MLB picks for Tuesday night's.

Dodgers vs. Giants Tuesday Odds
As of this writing the best MLB odds we could find on LA with Clay Kershaw was the -125 offered at Pinnacle, while San Francisco with fellow lefty Madison Bumgarner was getting +122 at BetOnline. Also, most of the market was listing a total on tonight's game of 5.5 runs, which is the lowest we've seen on an MLB game this season.

The Situation
San Francisco took Game 1 of this big four-game series Monday night 3-2 in extra innings, on an always-exciting sacrifice fly in the bottom of the twelfth. So the Giants have won three games in a row, while LA has lost four in a row and eight of its last 10.

At 87-69 Los Angeles now leads San Francisco by five games in the NL West, with six games to play. The Dodgers also now trail the NL East-leading Mets by two games in that battle for home-field advantage in a possible upcoming NL divisional-round playoff series.

The Giants now lead this season series 10 games to six, with the totals leaning UNDER by a 9-6-1 margin.

Tuesday's Twirlers
These two starting pitchers have already squared off three times this season; San Francisco won all three of those games, and all three games played UNDER.

Bumgarner (18-8, 2.88) is 19-for-31 on quality starts this season, and three for his last three. Last Thursday he held San Diego to three runs through seven innings, while over his last three starts he's allowed just four earned runs through 24 innings.

The Giants are 19-12 in Bumgarner's starts this year, with the OVERS going 16-13, in part because of some low totals.

In four starts this year against Los Angeles Bumgarner has allowed just five runs through 27 2/3 innings; San Francisco is 3-1 in those games, with the UNDERS going 4-0.

Kershaw (15-7, 2.25) is 23-for-31 on quality starts, and eight for his last nine. Last Thursday he gave up three runs in five innings against Arizona, but over his last nine starts he's gone at least seven innings while allowing one earned run or less seven times.

The Dodgers are 18-13 in Kershaw's starts this season, with the UNDERS going 18-12.

In four starts this year against the Giants Kershaw has allowed nine runs through 29 1/3 innings; the Dodgers are 1-3 in those games, with the UNDERS going 4-0.

Tuesday's Batting Splits
Los Angeles ranks third in the Majors this season against left-handed pitching with a .339 team on-base percentage, and 10th with a .415 team slugging percentage.

San Francisco, meanwhile, ranks ninth against lefties with a .328 team OBP and 18th with a .395 team slugging percentage.

Ballpark Totals Factor
Games played at AT&T Park this season are now 41-31 on the UNDERS, averaging 7.5 runs per, second-fewest among all ML ballparks.

Injury Update
As we mentioned in our preview of Monday's game San Francisco is a banged-up outfit at the moment. But few teams seem to plug holes with as much success as the Giants.

Meanwhile, LA slugger Adrian Gonzalez, who had missed recent action with a sore back, returned to the lineup Monday and went one-for-four at the plate.

Dodgers-Giants Free Picks
San Francisco just seems to have LA's number, especially in the Bumgarner-Kershaw match-up. So for the first of our free MLB picks on this game we'll take the Giants. Also, these two starters are a combined 8-0 on the UNDERS against tonight's opponents this season, and why wouldn't we go along with that?
