Chicago White Sox
The Chicago White Sox have lost two in a row ahead oft their series opener with the New York Yankees, which will be played after this writing. Third baseman Todd Frazier got his 10th RBI of the series with a home run to lead off the fourth in last night's 6-5 loss against the Rangers. The White Sox still have the AL's best record at 23-12.

The White Sox currently rank 11th in the majors with 155 runs scored, 13 with a .253 batting average and 19th with 33 home runs. Chicago is 5th in MLB with a 3.19 ERA and 9th with a 1.20 WHIP.

New York Yankees
The Yankees are starting to turn their season around, winning five of their last seven games, all at home against the Red Sox and Royals. Chase Headley and Didi Gregorius hit two-run home runs and Starlin Castro added a solo shot to help the Yankees beat the Royals 7-3 last night.

The Yankees rank 24th in the majors with 127 runs scored, 22nd with a .237 batting average and 17th with 34 home runs. New York is 21st in MLB with a 4.34 ERA and 12th with an 1.27 WHIP.

Pitching Matchup
Jose Quintana (5-1, 1.38 ERA) vs. Ivan Nova (1-1, 4.34 ERA)
Jose Quintana is one of the main reasons why the White Sox have the best record in the American League. Quintana already has five wins and his 1.38 ERA is impressive. He also has 42 strikeouts and just nine walks and a microscopic 0.99 WHIP, with opposing batters hitting just .217 against him. What's even more astonishing is the fact that the left-hander hasn’t allowed more than two earned runs in any start.

Ivan Nova takes the hill for the Yankeess Nova has come out of the bullpen most of the season and this will be his second start. He has a 4.34 this year and his career ERA of 4.33 tells us that he can be solid but not the dominant pitcher that the Yankees expected. There's a reason why he was at the bullpen, even with the Yankees having weak starters.

Betting Trends
The White Sox are 13-7 in road games, 5-0 in their last five games against a team with a losing record amd 20-7 agains 9-4 in road games and 20-7 against right-handed starters.

The Yankees are 10-9 in home games, 2-5 in Ivan Nova's last seven home starts amd 1-6 in Ivan Nova's last seven starts against a team with a winning record.

Final Analysis
The Chicago White Sox are favored on the MLB odds board at -129 while the New York Yankees are at +119 and the total has been set at 7.5. The Yankees might be playing better but the White Sox are on whole different level this season and Jose Quintana in particular has pitched as well as Jake Arrieta or Chris Sale. Quintana has been almost unhittable and I don't see the Yankees being able to succeed against him right now. I'm taking the White Sox -129 with my MLB picks.
