Sports betting enthusiasts; let’s get our thinking caps on with only handful of MLB games left in the regular season and these are the games that will determine the post-season. It’s MLB Picks of the Day.

Capper Catalano’s Record: 198-172 -21.13 Units
Friday was one of those days in which we were spot on, but the results don’t show it. While the Detroit Tigers won for us with a 1-unit play, we took a risk with a rare 3-unit play. The average J.A. Happ pitched a spectacular game for Toronto, but we lose a 1-0 heartbreaker against the Tampa Bay Rays. I have no regrets because it was a perfect spot for Happ and Toronto but still very disappointing.

Cleveland Indians (76-70) vs. Detroit Tigers (81-66)

Can Lobstein Come Through In a Big Spot?
I’ve rolled the dice with Kyle Lobstein (1-0, 2.78) before at fantastic MLB odds and it payed off for me. I’m thinking about looking in his direction again because he’s the one Tiger pitcher that will provide the bettor with favorable odds as Detroit possesses a dominant offense.

The Tigers are currently ½ game ahead of the Kansas City Royals for the American League Central Division Championship, therefore I don’t have to tell you that this game is huge.

Martinez and Martinez
Along with legend Miguel Cabrera, this has been the combination that has carried the Detroit Tigers this season. For most of the season, Victor Martinez has dominated baseball with his MVP-like statistics, but last night J.D. Martinez came up big in a huge spot for Detroit in a 7-2 win over the Indians. Martinez was 2 for 4 with a triple, a home run and 4 runs batted in. This was the difference in the ball game. If Kyle Lobstein can give even a respectable outing of 5 to 6 innings pitched, this is Detroit’s game to win with all of the firepower that they carry coming into this game.

Free MLB Pick: Detroit -126 at 5 Dimes – 3 Units (Risky play, but my gut says it’s the right play)

Washington Nationals (83-63) vs. New York Mets (72-76)

Never Say Never
After finally defeating a team yesterday which has owned them, the New York Mets are actually nearing the .500 mark and without the presence of David Wright. New York knows all too well how a team can collapse like they did in 2007 to the Philadelphia Phillies and currently the Mets are 6 ½ games behind the Pittsburgh Pirates for the final wild card spot in the National League with just 14 games left in the season.

Washington on the other hand, has their division well in hand with an 8 ½ game lead over the Atlanta Braves. The only thing that the Nats can take away from this game is momentum.

Fister vs. Wheeler
We could possibly see a pitching duel in this game as the betting totals indicate if Zack Wheeler brings his “A Game”.

Wheeler (10-9, 3.38) at times has been known to be a bit erratic. That said, this is a solid #2 -3 starter in most rotations and if Wheeler can keep the pitching count down, this is a good spot for him. He faces Doug Fister (13-6, 2.53) who is having a breakout season for Washington.

Fister had recently had a couple of poor outings, but came back with a near perfect performance on the 8th of September as he held the Atlanta Braves to just 2 hits in 7 innings in a 2-1 Nats win. These two pitchers are somewhat different as Wheeler will overpower the opposing hitters more, but the results are fairly similar.

With all of their injuries and experimenting with youth, New York isn’t “wheeling” out the most intimidating lineup in a “pitcher-friendly” CitiField. Expect this game to go under the total. Some sportsbooks are offering the total at 6 ½ and others are offering it at 7. You really need to find a SBR A+ rated sportsbook that offers this game at 7 as the line looks like it will eventually be 6 ½ everywhere.
