Our resident MLB betting odds expert breaks down a couple of American League starting pitching matchups for tonight. Read this revealing sports wagering article and you will have a huge edge before making your MLB bets tonight.

A’s vs. White Sox 2:10 PM ET
The A’s starter Scott Kazmir has put together a solid body of work during the 2014 season. He’s gone 19-9 against the money with a more than respectable 3.42 ERA. However, there’s a genuine cause for concern pertaining to the veteran southpaw. Kazmir has a mammoth 13.51 ERA, a 2.44 WHIP, and walked 2 more than he struck out during his previous 3-starts.

The White Sox Chris Sale has had no such problems over his previous 3-starts. In those outings, the lefty has an excellent 1.89 ERA, and compiled a better than 4:1 strikeout to walk ratio. He’s also gone a very good 6-2 against the money in day games this season with a terrific 2.24 ERA and 0.91 WHIP.

Advantage: Think about this, the A’s are 9-19 over their last 28-games, and the White Sox are 5-15 during their last 20. Something has to give, and when assessing these starting pitchers recent forms, it pretty much becomes a no brainer. I’m giving a huge betting edge to Chris Sale of the White Sox over Scott Kazmir of the A’s.

Rays vs. Yankees 7:05 PM ET
The Rays starter Alex Cobb has been sizzling hot during his last 9-starts. In those outings, he’s posted an excellent 1.08 ERA, and all 9-games have stayed under the total. Since the start of the 2013 season, Cobb has seen 4 of his 5-starts versus the Yankees go under the total, and he was a major contributor in those low scoring affairs by posting a microscopic 0.98 ERA.

The Yankees will go with right-hander Michael Pineda on the mound this evening. Since returning from an extended stay on the disabled list, Pineda has a sparkling 1.78 ERA, a 0.73 WHIP, and struck out 19 while walking just 1 in 5-starts. He’s seen all 4 of his starts at Yankee Stadium go under the total this season.

Advantage: It would be very difficult to fade either of these starting pitchers in this game tonight. I like this one to be a good old fashioned pitcher’s duel, and develop into a low scoring game. My betting lean here is to make a wager on going under the total at 5Dimes for your MLB picks.
