The Giants haven’t won a series against a team with a winning record since May 29-June 1, which is important to consider when making your MLB predictions, but they’re still in position to land a NL Wild card spot.

Even though the Giant’s bullpen had its 22-inning scoreless streak snapped last night in their first game of the series against the Brewers—the group still leads the league in ERA since the All-Star break.

Even Playing Field
Milwaukee owns a slight 26-25 all-time advantage over San Francisco when meeting up at Miller Park, as the Senior Circuit rivals prepare to face off for just the second time during the 2014 campaign.

Brewers star outfielder Ryan Braun is 1 for 17 over his last five home meetings with the Giants, which can’t be ignored when looking over the betting odds, but teammate Carlos Gomez showed signs of breaking out of a 3-for-32 slump in three runs in the series opener.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the franchise is 44-38 as home favorites of -125 to -150, with the 'over' mirroring that performance.

Giants starting pitcher Ryan Vogelsong (6-8, 3.88 ERA) snapped his personal five-game losing streak last time out, as he went the distance in a 5-1 road victory over the New York Mets.

The right-hander is 4-2 with a 4.70 ERA in 10 road outings—surrendering eight round trippers in 53.2 combined frames.

In 10 lifetime starts versus the Brewers, Vogelsong has registered a 4-3 record and 3.97 ERA, including a 3-1 mark and 3.46 ERA in three efforts at this ballpark.

Brewers starting pitcher Yovani Gallardo (6-5, 3.38 ERA) has tossed 16.2 consecutive scoreless innings, as he looks to build off a 5-0 road victory over the Tampa Bay Rays last Wednesday.

The right-hander has produced a solid 4-0 record and 3.10 ERA when pitching on six or more days rest the last two years.

Gallardo is 6-3 with a 2.81 ERA in nine career appearances versus the Giants, which includes a 4-1 mark and 2.12 ERA in five home meetings.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Brewers in the first five innings as one of their MLB predictions, as the Giants have fallen in defeat in their last five contests in Milwaukee.
