MLB Regular Season Betting
In any given baseball season, a jam-packed schedule stretches before bettors weekly that often cracks more than a dozen games to bet on. In total, a season encompasses 2,430 games that stretch over 6 months from April to October. Today, Major League Baseball has 30 teams – 29 in the United States and 1 in Canada – that are divided equally into the American League (AL) and National League (NL).
2021 MLB Season
The 2021 Major League season appears to be on track, and unless COVID-19 dictates otherwise spring training camps for the 2021 season get underway on February 17, and the regular season Opening Day on April 1 with all 30 teams competing that day. That said the MLB and MLBPA have yet to finalize enhanced health and safety protocols that will help Players and Clubs meet the ongoing challenge of the coronavirus pandemic that continues to cause disruptions in all sports in 2021.
A similar such agreement was made amidst the COVID-19 stricken 2020 MLB season, in which the Los Angeles Dodgers (National League champions) were crowned World Series champions. The Dodgers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (American League champions) in the 116th edition of the World Series, which was played at a neutral site and began on October 20 and ended in Game 6 on October 27.
The MLB did propose to shorten the season to 154 games in an attempt to allow the level of COVID-19 infection rates to decrease and additional time for the distribution of vaccinations, but that was rejected by the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA). Under the plan, the playoffs would have been expanded from 10 to 14 teams, the designated hitter would have extended to the National League (NL) for the second straight season, and MLB would have kept the experimental rules for seven-inning doubleheaders and beginning extra innings with a runner on second base.
In response to the rejection, MLB confirmed it would instead continue preparations for an on-time start to the 2021 season – the league had released a full 162-game schedule of MLB games for each team last July, anticipating a return to normal after the shortened 60-game 2020 season.
In lieu of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the uncertainty faced by all sports in 2021, it’s important to be vigilant across current events, developments and breaking news before placing wagers on any MLB picks and parlays. It’s a fluid situation that is subject to change at any point in time.

As with any sport, betting the moneyline is the most straightforward of any betting types. It simply doesn’t get more straightforward than placing a wager on a team to win. It’s a 50-50 proposition that can go either way. Betting favorites can come at a hefty premium when a side boasts elite pitchers like Jacob deGrom, Max Scherzer, and Clayton Kershaw, to name a few. On the flipside, betting an underdog can be most rewarding – but only if the disadvantaged (by the odds) team in question wins.
MLB Picks on the Run Line
Of all the betting types, MLB picks on the run line and are some of the most sought-after from our expert cappers, though in baseball the spread goes by a different name: the run line and it’s set to a 1.5-run spread.
