Wednesday's college basketball best bet

Oklahoma ML vs. Oklahoma State (+112 via FanDuel)

The Bedlam rivalry resumes for the third time at the Big 12 tournament, and the Cowboys are looking to make it three straight (and seven of eight) against the Sooners in this matchup.

Oklahoma State has done an outstanding job against Oklahoma's leading scorer Grant Sherfield in the first two meetings, holding him to 29 points and 4-of-14 beyond the arc. However, we trust Sooners coach Porter Moses to devise ways to get his star guard more clean looks in a do-or-die tournament setting and expect Sherfield’s possession percentage rating (per KenPom) to be north of 30% for just the second time since that first meeting in Stillwater.

Oklahoma is 4-1 against the spread at neutral sites this year, while Oklahoma State has failed to cover any of its three games in neutral-site environments. This has us backing the Cowboys with a three-star play to pull off the outright upset, as it is difficult to beat a team - especially your biggest rival - three times in a season.

Wednesday's NBA best bet

Poeltl Over 14.5 points (+140 via DraftKings)

Poeltl’s points prop (try saying that five times fast) is set at 13.5 across all of our featured books, but we can get it at 14.5 for some juicy plus-money odds. This one comes in at +115 on FanDuel and +120 on PointsBet, but the best odds are a tasty +140 at DraftKings.

Poeltl has scored at least 13 points in five straight and at least 14 in four straight while averaging 16.4 points in that span. He’s eclipsed 15 points in two of his last three, and he gets a great matchup with a Clippers team that’s been poor defensively.

Los Angeles has allowed at least 124 points in three of its last five contests, including its last two. The Clippers are middle-of-the-pack in points allowed in the paint overall and more generous at home than on the road. Clips stars Paul George and Kawhi Leonard should provide key defense on Toronto’s top scorers, leaving Poeltl available to operate effectively under the basket.

Wednesday's PGA Tour best bet

Tom Kim to win the Players Championship (+4000 via FanDuel)

Kim will make his professional debut at TPC Sawgrass at just 20 years old but already a two-time winner on golf's top circuit. The South Korean phenom slipped back to No. 17 in the OWGR with a T-34 finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational last week but he has still made the cut in five of his six events to begin 2023.

Kim is accurate off the tee and an elite ball striker who is gaining strokes per round in all key metrics across his last 12 measured rounds. Though he struggled on and around the greens last week, I project a better performance on the slower greens at TPC Sawgrass. He's also fourth in bogey avoidance and 10th in scrambling this season.

I thought I was getting value with my +3600 ticket on Kim in mid-January but I'll double-down at these higher odds now that we're in the week of the event.

Wednesday's soccer best bet

Tottenham to advance vs. Milan (+140 via Caesars)

Milan head to London with a 1-0 advantage. However, these two sides are having similar seasons in their respective domestic leagues. Both have won 14 games, both currently occupy fourth place and both have lost their most-recent match.

Spurs have progressed from two of their last three European ties after losing the first leg. Milan have only ever won one of their 21 away games against English sides in all European competitions. Tottenham’s Italian head coach, Antonio Conte, returns to the dugout after recovering from gallbladder surgery. Conte is a fierce winner, who coached Milan’s arch rivals Inter to the Italian championship in 2021. Conte has won five of his last six home games against AC Milan in all competitions.

Whichever way they get through, home advantage will be a key factor in this tie for Spurs. We just need them to advance to win this play. Tottenham has the superior squad, which should see them progress.

FanDuel’s odds for this play is +122, with DraftKings at +135. Caesars is offering the best price at +140.
