The final major tournament of the 2021 Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) is just around the corner; ahead of the summer event, WePlay have further expanded their relations with GRID to provide the most epic statistical storylines and visualizations.
Dota 2 AniMajor
This month WePlay AniMajor will host their second tournament of the 2021 DPC, as eighteen of the worlds greatest teams will compete for a generous $500,000 prize pool and 2,700 DPC points.
Kyiv, Ukraine, will be the location, held from June 2nd – 13th. More importantly, it will be the last opportunity for teams in the six regional circuit to gain DPC points to secure an invite to The International 10 (TI10). The TI10 will take place in Stockholm, Sweden, later this year and feature a 40-million-dollar prize pool.
Dota 2 AniMajor Format
All Major tournaments that fall under the newly instated DPC format are split into three stages, and WePlay AniMajor is no different. Six teams begin the tournament in each stage – the Wildcard stage, the Group stage, and the playoffs.
Wildcard teams will kick-off the tournament in a single round-robin format, the two best teams will advance to the Group Stage. Eight teams will compete in the Group Stage, and like the Wildcard layout, a single round-robin in a best of two matches will determine who qualifies for the playoffs.
Dota 2 AniMajor Participating Teams
18 teams playing in the AniMajor are made up of the best teams from the DPC’s six regional leagues in Europe, North America, South America, China, Southeast Asia, and the CIS. China and Europe will have four representing teams, North & South America will have two each, and Southeast Asia/CIS will have three.
The most successful teams of each separate regional league have already seeded to the Major Playoffs; second-placed teams from each league will begin from the Group Stage. Two teams from Europe and China and one team from Southeast Asia/CIS will start their journey from the Wildcard Stage.
Dota 2 AniMajor & GRID Partnership
Leading up to the Dota 2 AniMajor, Berlin-based data platform GRID Esports and the events organiser WePlay Esports have declared their current data partnership will be introduced for the AniMajor tournament in Kyiv.
The main purpose of GRID is to provide their line server data direct from the game that will boost visual and statistical storylines. This will conclude the fifth Major that will employ GRID’s data platform services.
Business Development Lead Valentyn Shevchenko for WePlay Esports said: “WePlay Esports is ecstatic to be hosting the AniMajor this year and being able to once again bring the top talent and teams to our fans.
“Our cutting-edge production and GRID’s ability to bring data storytelling to life will make this major one to remember.”
Enhancing the Esports broadcast is a significant adjustment considering fans will not attend the AniMajor event. And although the pandemic is preventing the LAN tournament from being held without spectators, the additions from GRID will complement the live broadcast with power on-screen narratives and professional player data points.
