You may recall there was one seemingly daily event running through most of our online era in 2020, the Home Sweet Home series. Thta was the one where we saw Gambit Esports and Big Clan stomping over a plethora of European teams week after week. Well this event has returned under the tile of Snow Sweet Snow and is an excellent one to familiarize yourself with both the upcoming talent in the strongest CS region, as well as many of the teams which represent the greatest upset potential at our biggest lans each year.
Another event running through March, featuring a different format, with the same pool of teams is the Pinnacle Cup. Spanning the entire month, with 32 teams competing through three stages it was pretty rigorous for an online event. Action started on Wednesday with mixed Scandinavian roster, Apeks, earning their spot for the next round of the event with a victory over group favorite, K23, and Finnish squad, Hreds. In Group B the Copenhagen Flames held on for three straight maps but closed out their matches to move on. A 12-7 lead against Galaxy Racers, ending 19-17 in overtime, was followed by an 11-2 finishing 16-13 and a 12-4 finishing 19-16. So seemingly nothing was easy for the Danes, but they did close.
Tomorrow Group C runs, while D will go Friday. The four teams Thursday all share one characteristic – they all come into the event ice cold. In the case of two of these squads they have the difficulty of not playing many officials together…so that is somewhat an alibi.
While not all from the Pinnacle Cup, I have shared a few of the other things I am on across the esports world tomorrow.
