Coming off a huge upset at Michigan State last week, Wisconsin is a double-digit underdog on the college football odds for this week's clash in Ann Arbor vs. the Wolverines. Let's review where the betting value lies and share a free pick.

Welcome to October, college football bettors and fans. And what better way to announce the start of the real push towards conference championships -- and ultimately, the College Football Playoffs, than with a Saturday which includes three top 10 clashes?

Among the badass matchups is one in Ann Arbor where the No. 4/5 Michigan Wolverines host the No. 8/8 Wisconsin Badgers. ABC is going to have its cameras trained on action from the Big House starting at 3:30 PM (ET), and the Wolverines are sizeable 10 point favorites at Bookmaker (where you will find a 50% Free Play Sign Up Bonus) where the early total was 48½.

Thanks to a very strange scheduling system in the Big Ten, Saturday's collision marks the first time since 2010 the two old foes have met, the rivalry tracing its roots all the way back to 1893. Michigan holds a huge 49-14-1 edge over the years, but it's Wisconsin checking in with the latest bragging rights by winning the last two meetings, and three of the last four.

After not facing each other for five seasons, it could very well be the first of two battles this year with both sides currently in the drivers' seats of their two respective division. The Badgers were 3½ point favorites on the NCAA football odds when they traveled to Ann Arbor in 2010, leaving town with a decisive 48-28 victory.

Paul Chryst and Company also left the Great Lakes State this past Saturday with a decisive victory, this time a 30-6 wipeout in East Lansing where they were 3½ point underdogs to then No. 8 Michigan State. Wisconsin made the fewer mistakes in what was a defensive battle, a fumble return early in the third quarter accenting the performance.

The upset came with redshirt freshman Alex Hornibrook at quarterback after senior Bart Houston was under center for most of Wisconsin's first three wins. Hornibrook relieved Houston in the tight win a week earlier vs. Georgia State, the Badgers perhaps looking ahead to a tough start to conference play that finds them home next week vs. Ohio State.

There are a couple of injuries bettors need to monitor, beginning with place kicker Rafael Gaglianone (back) being questionable. He missed last game with Andrew Endicott filling in nicely. Backup offensive guard Jon Dietzenis also questionable because of a shoulder injury.

Maize & Blue Proving Tough On Defense
Jim Harbaugh and his charges are also coming off an impressive win as they get to enjoy playing in front of the home crowd for a fifth consecutive week. It was definitely their top overall defensive effort of the young campaign in limiting Penn State to under 200 total yards in a 49-10 triumph laying 16 points on the college football odds.

The Wolverines are 11th in the land giving up 269 YPG, less than 150 of that through the air. They'll be breaking in a new nickel back after corner Jeremy Clark was declared out for the year with a knee injury. Backup tackle Bryan Mone also has a bad knee and is questionable.

There's currently a good chance of at least some showers throughout the day in Ann Arbor, Saturday afternoon's high should climb into the mid-60s. Wet footballs often lead to turnovers and a game potentially getting out of hand, but my free college football pick is based on the expectations for a close, low-scoring affair. Gimme' the points.
