The second half of the college football season gets underway this week and the betting board at SBR Odds is loaded with a number of great matchups in the Power 5 conferences. Here is a quick look at some of the most important betting odds and trends for the biggest matchup this Saturday in each major conference.

ACC- Syracuse at Miami (-14)

The Orange have suddenly burst onto the national scene following last Friday’s stunning 27-24 upset of then-No. 2 Clemson as heavy 23.5-point home underdogs. They are now 4-3 straight-up on the year with a solid 4-2-1 record against the spread. Syracuse is 2-0 ATS on the road and 3-0 when closing as an underdog.

Miami is the only team in the ACC without a SU loss at 5-0 and it is 3-2 ATS. The Hurricanes have covered the spread in seven of their last eight games coming off a SU victory and they are now 6-1 ATS in their last seven conference games. The favorite in this Saturday’s matchup is 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings.

Big Ten- Michigan at Penn State (-10)

The Wolverines head into this huge showdown at 5-1 SU with the lone loss coming against rival Michigan State in a 14-10 loss as 12.5-point home favorites on Oct. 7. They are 2-3-1 ATS this season and the total has stayed UNDER in four of the six games. Michigan is just 1-4-1 ATS in its last six games against a team with a SU winning record.

Penn State is in the driver seat in the Big Ten at 6-0 SU, but following this week’s game at home against Michigan it will go on the road to face both Ohio State and Michigan State in a brutal three-game stretch. The Lions are 4-1-1 ATS with the total staying UNDER in five of the six games. Head-to-head in this matchup, the home team has a 4-1 edge ATS in the last five meetings.

Big 12- Oklahoma State (-7) at Texas

The Cowboys have racked up a total of 100 points in back-to-back victories against Texas Tech on the road and Baylor at home to improve to 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS. They bring a 6-2 record ATS into this contest over their last eight road games and they are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games following a SU win.

Texas came up just short in Saturday’s 29-24 loss to bitter rival Oklahoma as a nine-point home underdog. The Longhorns dropped to an even 3-3 SU, but with that cover they are a highly profitable 5-1 ATS this season. The total has stayed UNDER in four of their first six games. Texas has failed to cover against Oklahoma State in five of the last seven meetings overall.

SEC- Tennessee at Alabama (-34)

The Volunteers have dropped three of their last four games both SU and ATS after losing to South Carolina 15-9 on Saturday as two-point home favorites. They are now 3-3 SU with a costly 1-5 record ATS. The total has stayed UNDER in their last four games. Tennessee is 1-4 ATS in its last five games against a team with a SU winning record.

Alabama continued to roll towards another SEC title with a convincing 41-9 romp against Arkansas on Saturday, but it could not cover the large 37-point spread at home. The Tide is a perfect 7-0 SU this season, but it fell to 3-4 ATS. Against Tennessee at home over the years, Alabama is just 3-7-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Tuscaloosa.

Pac-12- USC at Notre Dame (-4)

While this is not a conference game for USC, it is one of its biggest rivalries of the season. The Trojans moved to 6-1 SU with Saturday’s tight 28-27 victory at home against Utah, but they are now just 1-6 ATS after failing to cover as 13-point favorites. The total went OVER 52 points in that game after staying UNDER in their previous four outings.

Notre Dame moved to 5-1 both SU and ATS with a 33-10 victory against North Carolina as a 13-point road favorite heading into last week’s bye. The total stayed UNDER 63.5 points in that win after going OVER in its previous three games. Head-to-head in this Saturday’s game, the favorite has gone a perfect 5-0 both SU and ATS in the last five meetings.
