Joe Gavazzi, our college football expert picks Syracuse on their road game against Boston College as he is not impressed with the odds given that favor the struggling Eagles.

Syracuse vs Boston College (-5) 12:30 ET

Each week in this space, I author a selection which will give the fans of one of these teams CHEAP THRILLS, as their team piles up point-after-point in a blowout victory. Last week, it was the Florida Gators in their 40-14 blowout win over Missouri. These plays are now 5-2 ATS (71%) for the season.

Syracuse pulled a massive upset over VA Tech at the Carrier Dome last Saturday. The final score was 31-17. The revitalized Orange offense, under 1st-year offensive mastermind, Dino Babers, rolled up 570 total yards against a VA Tech defense that had allowed just 20 total points in their previous 3 games. Following the contest, the ESPN cameras panned to the Syracuse locker room. There, the nation witnessed HC Babers leading a post-game chant, which included the fact that they had just won that game outright as a 20 point underdog. For those of you naive enough to believe that coaches and players are unaware of the pointspread, it may have been a shocking revelation as filmed by the ESPN cameras. That victory lifts the Orange to 3-4 SU for the season.  Although they will be underdogs in each of their remaining games, this is a team who, at least for this week, will be highly motivated. Note that it was just 4 short weeks ago that Syracuse, as a 6 point underdog, rolled into Connecticut, bolted to a 14-0 lead and cruised to a 31-24 victory as our 1st 6% release of the season.  A plodding Boston College team is much of the same ilk as are those Huskies.

For starters, should these Eagles really be favored in this contest?  I make that statement with the knowledge that Boston College is now on a 0-8 SU slide in ACC play.  The addition of Kentucky transfer, QB Towles, means the BC offense has shown a bit more pop.  But in league games, they are averaging just 8 PPG.  Unfortunately for the Eagles, a defense that allowed just 15/254 last season has been a bit more permissive, especially in ACC play, where their 3 foes have totaled 122 points.

Expect a Syracuse offense, which is improving by the week behind QB Dungey, to break from the gate early and offer their fans CHEAP THRILLS as they pile up 2nd half scores in a potential underdog, blowout victory. I invite you to put the College Football ODDS in your favor and join me in my College Football PICK on Syracuse this afternoon.
