Boston College vs. Louisville
Line: Louisville -21.5

Keys to the Game:

Boston College played very well defensively in their home loss to Virginia Tech 23-10. The Eagles recorded 5 total sacks and held the Hokies to 109 rushing yards in Chesnut Hill.

Entering this game, Boston College is giving up 234 rushing yards per game and is allowing 182 passing yards to opposing offenses. The defense is holding opposing offenses to 38% on third down attempts and will need to put Louisville’s offense in predictable third downs to allow their front seven to generate a pass rush.

Boston College has recorded 14 total sacks through the first 6 games and will look to build off of last week’s performance this Saturday in Papa John’s Stadium.

The Eagles have held some of the better teams like Notre Dame and Clemson in check in the passing game. The defense allowed 96 passing yards to Notre Dame and only 140 to Clemson. In back to back games against Central Michigan and Virginia Tech, the defense allowed less than 120 rushing yards (116 to CMU and 109 to VT).

Louisville won this game 52-7 last year and the Cardinals displayed a huge speed advantage on the perimeter with quarterback Lamar Jackson (1,990 pass yds. 14 TD’s, 510 rush yds. 7 TD’s in 2017).

The Cardinals lost last week 39-25 to NC State in Raleigh and will look to rebound this weekend on homecoming.

However, where is the mindset of the team now that the ACC title and more importantly-a playoff appearance are out of the window?

Louisville does have Florida State on the road next Saturday and could they be looking ahead to that game is a possibility.

Boston College rushed for 153 yards last week against Virginia Tech and has given up 5 total sacks as on offensive line this season. The Eagles have gotten better offensive line play in run blocking and have rushed for 224 yards against Central Michigan along with last week’s performance against Virginia Tech.
