Week 6 NCAAF Top Picks: Against the Spread

We are now 2 weeks straight of me going 0-3 in my pick’s column. If you’ve been keeping up, that’s a losing record every week this year so far. I’m certain for someone out there this is comical. I’m glad my pain and misery amuse you. I feel as if I am the village idiot screaming to the crowd only to be chased up a tree by an angry mob throwing rocks. Well, save some of those rocks, because I’m not quitting!

This week’s games are sure to get me back on track. And if they don’t you know what tree to find me hiding in. As for the theme of this week I am taking all road teams. I believe home field advantage in the world of Covid is not a thing to be concerned with but I feel these teams are all getting points for playing at home. This is a mistake I hope to capitalize on this week.

South Carolina Gamecocks vs. Vanderbilt Commodores

Saturday, October 10, 2020 – 12:00 PM EDT

When you are struggling to pick these games right the best advice I have to give is to find the bad teams and bet against them. The point spread in this game is just off in my option. When I see Vanderbilt playing any SEC team not named Missouri I think the number has to start at 14 and go up from there based on who the opponent is.

S. Car’s defense will make it very difficult for Vandy to score at all and don’t look now, but that Gamecock offense has a nice run game that should allow them to control the game, dominate in the trenches and hopefully come away with a comfortable victory.

Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. Iowa St Cyclones

Saturday, October 10, 2020 - 03:30 PM EDT

The theme for this NCAAF pick is overreaction. We all just watched Iowa St pull off an amazing upset by beating Oklahoma last week. And so far Texas Tech hasn’t looked great. So what do we think will happen in this game? The Cyclones are supposed to beat the Red Raiders pretty easily, right? Wrong! Texas Tech will come into this game ready to play and will keep it much closer than the 12.5 they are catching right now.

Iowa St is good, but I don’t see them blowing out anyone not named Kansas this season. Way too many points. Way too much credit for beating what could be proving to be a bad OU team. And way too much respect for a home field advantage that isn’t really a thing this year. Take the Red Raiders and the points and don’t be shocked if they can pull off the upset.

Best Bet: Texas Tech +12.5 (-105) with Heritage

Louisville Cardinals vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Friday, October 09, 2020 - 07:00 PM EDT

Bad teams getting credit for homefield advantage that doesn’t really exist is where I’m living and this game will be no different. Just when you thought it was safe to make plans to spend time with the family on Friday night before a big weekend of football, think again! Cancel those plans and stay in to watch the Louisville Cardinals go down to Atlanta and get healthy beating up on the Yellow Jackets.

Before the season, I thought Ga Tech was a bad football team. Then they went to Florida St and beat the Seminoles. What am I missing something? Are the Jackets actually good at football this year? No, I miss Fl St being overrated and over hyped once again. Georgia Tech is who we thought they were, a bad football team. Louisville hasn’t looked great but they are extremely well-coached and one thing I know about great coaches is their teams get better every game they play. I am looking to see the Cardinals get things turned around and they will do it this Friday. Take Louisville and lay the points.
