Week 3 College Football Picks Against The Spread - Saturday's Top 5 Bets

Pile of Texas Longhorns players

Our latest batch of college football picks takes us from the Big House to Strawberry Canyon, with stops in between. Some big-name teams could be in trouble Saturday.

Just like that, our first 5-pack of NCAAF picks has made a profit. We went 3-2 ATS against the Week 2 odds at press time, but it you did the right thing and waited until kick-off for the PSU-Pitt game, you may have gotten a push out of the Panthers at –3. Fade those public teams late, not early. Don't press the beautiful shiny button until it's time. The jolly, candy-like button.

Colorado Buffaloes vs Michigan Wolverines (–20.5)
3:30 p.m. ET, BTN

Having said that, if you do decide to bet on a public team, get them early. The Wolverines opened at –19.5, and now they've hit the magic –21 at some of the locations on our NCAAF odds board. Michigan's already blown out Hawaii (+38 away) and UCF (+36 away), so an extra point or two probably won't matter – but it might.

Free NCAAF Pick: Michigan –20

Oregon Ducks vs Nebraska Cornhuskers (–3)
3:30 p.m. ET, ABC

The Huskers got us to the pay window last week against Wyoming (+25.5 away at the close), and the Ducks failed us versus Virginia (+24 away), but the F/+ Combined Ratings at Football Outsiders grade Oregon's performance higher than Nebraska's thus far. Even if we give the 'Huskers a generous, old-school three points for home-field advantage, Oregon is still a value pick here. That's just science.

Free NCAAF Pick: Oregon +3 (–105)
Best Line Offered: at 5Dimes

Alabama Crimson Tide vs Ole Miss Rebels (+11)
3:30 p.m. ET, CBS

You know the story: Ole Miss has scored back-to-back upsets over 'Bama. As usual, the odds are moving toward the Tide, who opened at –9.5 and should get even chalkier by game time. Ole Miss has a rebuilt offensive line, and Alabama has a true freshman in Jalen Hurts, so question marks abound. That confusion should benefit the underdogs.

Free NCAAF Pick: Ole Miss +11
Best Line Offered: at BetDSI

Ohio State Buckeyes vs Oklahoma Sooners (+2)
7:30 p.m. ET, FOX

This should be a good one. Ohio State is already 2-0 SU and ATS, and Oklahoma is 1-1 SU and 0-2 ATS after screwing up against Houston, but again, the analytics say the Sooners have been the better team thus far. And they're getting points at home. Norman!

Free NCAAF Pick: Oklahoma +3 (–130)
Best Line Offered: at Bovada

Texas Longhorns vs California Golden Bears (+8)
10:30 p.m. ET, FOX

The 'Horns are back, folks. It's probably too late to “buy low” on Charlie Strong after Year Three of his reign began with a 50-47 overtime win over Notre Dame (–3.5 away), but California has not looked very good at all. Starting the season in Australia didn't do the Bears any favors. We hope you managed to grab Texas early at –7, along with all the other sharps.

Free NCAAF Pick: Texas –7.5 (–105)
Best Line Offered: at Heritage
Record: 3-3 ATS
