College Football Picks
Northern Illinois/304 Bowling Green- Northern Illinois is forced to go with freshman, untested quarterback Tommy Fiedler at quarterback. They lost Drew Hare earlier in the year, then lost his replacement Ryan Graham last week. Graham is still listed as questionable, but it appears highly doubtful he will play. Bowling Green had opened -9.5 until the quarterback situation for Northern Illinois clarified itself. Bowling Green now climbs to -13.5 with no real resistance from the wiseguys.
Texas/306 Baylor- Baylor opened -20, went to -21, but now settled in at -20.5. Public is on Baylor, no surprise. Wiseguys have taken value on Texas at +21.
Texas State/310 Arkansas State- Ark State opened -22, but zoomed up quickly to -25, then a little more slowly to -26 on the college football odds board. Pretty much public money with some wiseguys getting ahead of the move. No resistance yet from any serious wiseguy money showing on the dog.
New Mexico State/312 UL Monroe- Quarterback questions for both teams. ULM opened -3. Sharp and public money has come in strong on New Mex State, they go to -1.
West Virginia/314 Kansas State- West Virginia opened -6.5. Public and sharp money on the dog. It hovered between -6 and -6.5 for a while, then dipped sharply yesterday to -5.5. Some drama surrounding Kansas State head coach Bill Snyder could be a serious inspiration point for Kansas State.
Troy/318 U La Lafayette- U La La opened pick, went up to -2 with a combination of sharp and public money. Mostly public.
Southern Mississippi/320 Western Kentucky- First of all, do yourself a favor and watch this game. It should be a good one even if you aren’t all that familiar with the teams. WKU opened -8.5, went to -9, all the way down to -7, back up as high as -8, now at -7.5. That’s one hell of a lot of movement, though in a pretty tight range. It shows there are lots of opinions on this game. Wiseguys are split with their college football picks, depending on the number. Public is split also.
Temple/322 Houston- Houston opened -6.5, went up to -7, then slowly drifted down to -5.5. The public is on Houston but sharp money has been on Temple.
USC/324 Stanford- Stanford has been between -4 and -4.5, not much else. Public is split and wiseguys on both sides depending on the number.
Florida/326 Alabama- Bama opened -16 and it was all Bama until it got to -18. Now today some money has come back on the dog. Considering the total is only 40, you would think there should be some value in taking that many points. The line is coming back now to as low as -17, but there are still numbers as high as -18 around.
Air Force/328 San Diego State- San Diego State opened -6.5. It was then announced SD State starting QB Maxwell Smith would miss the game and is out for the season. SD State dropped to -4.5, but since then all the money has come back on the chalk, pushing the number back to the original -6.5.
North Carolina/330 Clemson- Clemson opened -5.5. And while the majority of public money is on Clemson, most of the sharp money has been on the dog. Clemson now -4.5.
Michigan State/332 Iowa- Michigan State opened -3, now up to -3.5 and even some -4 starting to show. Public money on the favorite, with not much action as yet from the wiseguys.
