We had a great week 1 with our college football expert picks, and we want to keep that streak going for week 2. Today we bring you the Under The Radar game of the week.

Rice vs Army (-10)
I assure you that every weekend will not be that good. But, if you follow the advice in my analyses this season, there is an extremely, high probability you will have more winners than losers. Last week, your UNDER THE RADAR selection was Tulane (+16) in their easy as pie cover against Wake Forest in a 7-3 loss. This week, it will be no surprise if my college football free pick of Rice wins this game outright.

I am well aware that the Owls enter today’s game on a 3-7 ATS slide with a 2-9 ATS recent dog record after they were embarrassed opening week with their 46-14 loss at W. Kentucky. We called for that one as well, as the Owls got passed-silly by a W. Kentucky throwing game that totaled 552 PY. Note, however, that the Rice rush defense (the Owls return 9 defenders, including 3 linemen) actually outgained Western overland 105-97. It will be exactly that kind of run game defense that will be needed against a high-powered running game of Army.

Army is a greatly improved team under 3rd year HC Jeff Monken. They return 16 starters, an unusually high number for a military academy. That played to their advantage last week against Temple when they followed my command as our ICE GAME OF THE WEEK winning selection. In the 28-13 victory over Temple (as 15 point underdog), they steamrolled a quality Temple defense, that allowed 128/3.8 last year. When the final numbers were tallied, Army had a 329-83 overland advantage. That made them a clear double rusher. In keeping with the 75% success rate of these running dogs, double rushers were 12-4 ATS last week. Army also profited from a +3 net TO margin.  As such, they were among 4 teams who went 3-1 ATS with a +3 or more net TO margin.

This afternoon, however, at Michie Stadium, on the banks of the Hudson, they will suffer from the huge role change, as well as the letdown from last week’s victory. For starters, Army failed in their only role as home chalk last year, when they lost on this field (34-31) to lowly Tulane. A much larger pointspread sample shows us that Army is 0-18 SU, following a victory and just 4-18 ATS long term, when laying 7 or more points.

In our UNDER THE RADAR GAME OF THE WEEK, I invite you to put the College Football Odds in your favor and join me in my College Football pick on Rice this week.
