It’s rivalry week in college football, and we are sticking with a set of ‘under’ bets for out top picks this week. Check out why scores will stay lower than projected in the Indiana-Purdue, West Virginia-Oklahoma, and North Carolina-N.C. State matchups.

Indiana vs Purdue (51)

Fact: since the start of last season, Indiana has not scored more than 17 points in five Big Ten road contests versus a defense giving up fewer than 28 points per game. Purdue owns the fourth best scoring unit in the conference, allowing just 18.9 points per tilt. The ‘under’ has hit in each with a 41.6 average score staying far below a 54.0 total.

Purdue lacks explosiveness offensively. Since 2016, it has put up more than 30 points at Ross-Ade Stadium twice against Big Ten competition: 35 against Iowa in Week 7 last season and 31 to Minnesota in Week 6 this year. Both games had fluky endings to help the Boilermakers get over the mark. They benefited from a late pick-6 with 0:10 seconds in regulation over the Gophers, while passing for two long touchdowns in the final two minutes against the Hawkeyes’ reserves in a blowout defeat (49-35).Under is the play. Purdue wins 24-14. Monitor the SBR oddsboard to get the best number. The number is moving in our favor after opening at 47 points.

West Virginia vs No. 3 Oklahoma (68)

The ‘under’ in this Big 12 showdown proved appealing even before quarterback issues emerged centerfold this week. Overwhelming Heisman favorite (-2000) Baker Mayfield will play, but not start the regular-season finale for the Sooners after he was caught on camera taunting Kansas players in last week’s 41-3 victory. Head coach Lincoln Riley did not divulge how long the senior will sit, but don’t expect more than a quarter. Here’s Riley’s comments on the matter:

West Virginia starter Will Grier is also out, expected to miss 4-6 weeks after undergoing surgery on a broken finger sustained in the first quarter of a 28-14 loss to Texas on Saturday. These offenses will be off-kilter for sure.

Even if Grier played, the Mountaineers’ unit has underachieved in this spot. Since the start of last season, it averages 28.8 points on the road in five games versus winning Big 12 programs. It’s failed to reach its projected team total in all but one by an average of 4.7 points. The defense is saving the day here, allowing just 25.6 points per game. The ‘under’ has cashed in all five contests by a 13.4 margin. The average total is 67.8 the combined score is 54.4. Not one matchup has gone over 65 points and we’re expecting fewer here with QB play upended.

North Carolina vs North Carolina State (56)

For those not keeping tabs, the ‘under’ is 12-2-1 in N.C. State’s last 15 ACC games. What the elite defense does to poor offenses in this span is criminal. It has not allowed more than 21 points in six matchups against an ACC foe averaging fewer than 30 points per game. North Carolina enters posting 26.5 per tilt. The Tar Heels have not scored more than 19 in their last five versus conference opponents with a .500 record or better. What we’re getting at here, if North Carolina reaches 20 points, consider it a small victory.

The key to the total will be whether the Wolfpack can stay grounded offensively. The 16.5-point spread is the second largest ever in favor of N.C. State since 1980. Under head coach Dave Doeren, the Pack average 33.2 points per game as double-digit favorites in ACC play. Since Larry Fedora took over UNC, his defense has not allowed more than 35 points in the rivalry. Wolfpack win 35-17, Under hits.
