The college football season moves to week 14, and with that, the road ends for every team other than Army or Navy. There are no more bye weeks ahead. There are no rivalry games to be played. These are either conference finales or conference championship games.

Temple Owls vs. Houston Cougars
Odds: Houston -5.5
This is a game in which the Cougars should be able to play it on their terms. Houston played Friday morning of last week, while Temple played Saturday night. Houston should be fresher. The game is in Houston, so the Cougars have had a lot of time in which to prepare for Temple. It’s a more difficult arrangement for the Owls as they make the cross-country trip to Texas, where their defense struggled earlier this season in a 60-40 win over SMU which was a lot closer than the final score suggested. This is a game between Temple’s physical defense and Houston’s speed on offense. However, Temple has to score enough to make its defense more of a factor, and since the Owls have been inconsistent on offense this season, it’s a reasonable bet that Houston’s defense will contain Temple enough to win. The Owls might score 24 points, but if that’s all they do score, Houston can get into the mid-30s and win. Houston has more margin for error here and should be able to do what it wants to do. Take the Cougars on the college football odds in the early game on Saturday.

West Virginia Mountaineers vs. Kansas State Wildcats
Odds: West Virginia -5.5
The key point to make here is that while Kansas State has experienced multiple injuries at quarterback this season, which immediately put the Wildcats in a difficult position, the West Virginia offense has not performed all that well. Skyler Howard has been a major disappointment under center for head coach Dana Holgorsen. West Virginia is drifting along as a program without a steady forward progression. That’s a real source of concern, and against a Kansas State team which wants to be able to qualify for a bowl game, the Mountaineers might run into an opponent which is ready to play one of its better games of the whole season. West Virginia should be favored, but Kansas State is a great choice against the spread and a very realistic candidate to spring an outright upset.

Florida Gators vs. Alabama Crimson Tide (In Atlanta)
Odds: Alabama -18
It’s that time of year – time for the SEC Championship Game and another game in which the SEC West champion is expected to trash and bash the SEC East champion. Is that just hype, or is it real? It looks real. Auburn and Alabama easily beat Missouri the past two years. This Alabama team is not better than past Alabama teams, but this Florida team is worse than last year’s Missouri team and a lot worse than the 2013 Missouri team. Florida’s offense did not score a point last week. The Gators will have a hard time scoring more than seven points this week. It should be an easy win for the Crimson Tide, so take them with your college football picks.
