Ball State vs. Ohio 7:00PM EST
Ball State is in the midst of another disappointing campaign, dropping to 3-7 following an ugly 54-7 loss at Western Michigan in their last contest. Four of their last five losses have come in non-competitive fashion, by double digit margins.

Betting Preview
But Pete Lembo’s squad has the benefit of extra prep time, off since November 5th, while Ohio U played last Tuesday. But the Cardinals, as a program, seem to be trending downwards. Lembo was a hot commodity among Power 5 head coach search committees following 9-4 and 10-3 campaigns in 2012 and 2013. That being said, those search committee’s don’t have Lembo’s phone number on speed dial any more following a 5-7 record last year and a 3-7 start to the current campaign.

Ohio U went through a nasty midseason stretch, suffering cluster injuries on the defensive side of the football while getting blasted 49-14, 41-17 and 62-24 over a three week span. The Bobcats bounced back with a surprising shutout win over hapless Kent State in their last outing. But Ohio still isn’t healthy, bringing a highly suspect stop unit into tonight’s contest.

Both teams have offenses worthy of support. The Bobcats are lead by senior QB Derrius Vick, loaded with offensive playmakers. Seven different Bobcats have a run of more than 20 yards from scrimmage this year, while nine different receivers have at least one catch of 20+ yards. Whether it’s Daz’Mond Patterson, AJ Ouellette, Sebastian Smith, Jordan Reid or Brendan Cope with the ball in their hands; the Bobcats have guys who can take it to the house if they get some separation with opposing defenders.

Ball State, too, has a QB worth supporting and an offense that isn’t short on playmakers. Frosh QB Riley Neal doesn’t make many mistakes, throwing only three interceptions in 317 pass attempts while showing the ability to scramble out of the pocket for big gainers downfield. The Cardinals RB duo of Darian Green and James Gilbert have combined for more than 1100 rushing yards. Wide receiver Jordan Williams has been an All-MAC performer in each of the last two seasons, and his counterparts KeVonn Mabon and Corey Lacanaia have 95 catches between them, a pair of solid possession receivers.

Final Analysis
We’ve seen money trickling in on the Over in early betting action today, with the total now sitting at 54, with some 54.5’s starting to pop up. I agree with the line movement here. Expect a good handful of big play, quick strike TD’s tonight, sending this game Over the total, as the college football pick tonight against the college football odds.
