Our expert handicapper searches the left coast college football odds board for wagering value in Week 2, and finds it with these two plays concerning Pac 12 teams Saturday night.

A winning week in the opening weekend of College Football, even after a one-point loss and a triple-overtime Over, has me feeling pretty good coming into Week 2 of the College Football season. The wine is a’flowin’ and the yeast beasts are hard at work making the 2016 vintage, so let’s get cooking with the Week 2 totals picks for your Saturday evening.

Washington State vs Boise State
Sometimes you need to just stay in your backyard when things are dialed in, and that is the case here with the Washington State Cougars and Boise State Broncos. The Cougars proved that they couldn’t handle an up-tempo offense, although they tried mightily to keep up and compiled 42 points in the process against their loss to FCS foe, Eastern Washington University. That game went well over the posted total as I had suggested, and I think this game will push 80 points as well.

In their game against my alma mater, the Cougars allowed 496 yards passing and 606 yards overall in the game. That is even after a 32:09 to 27:43 time of possession advantage. The passing defense was absolutely terrible all day, as Washington State allowed an Eastern to convert an incredible 85.4% of their passing attempts. Not much is going to work for you when you allow an opposing offense to complete passes at that rate.

Boise State comes into this game after a 45-10 waxing of Louisiana-Lafayette of the Sun Belt Conference. Boise State led 35-3 at the half in that game and basically started running clock in the 2nd half. And although they got 5 sacks in the game, the Broncos gave up a 63.6% completion percentage to Anthony Jennings of LA-Lafayette. This was just shy of Brett Rypien’s 22-33 mark on the day. With the Cougar’s high-powered offense coming to town though, the Broncos won’t have a chance here to keep their foot off of the gas, and both teams could end up in the 40’s by the end of the night. Pick Over 74 at Bovada.

California vs San Diego State
Perusing through the videos here at SBR led me to this pick, as California will have had a full 15 days of rest coming into this road game against San Diego State. The Golden Bears put up an impressive 630 yards of offense against Hawaii, but this isn’t one of those bowl-busting Hawaii teams of old. The Rainbow Warriors allowed Cal to compile 7.1 yards per play here, and that won’t be repeated against San Diego State. The Bears gave up 31 points to that Hawaii team, but I think we can probably chalk that up to the Australia factor – beautiful beaches, women, accents, and what not.

Pick Under 60.5 at Heritage. The Aztec’s come into this game after shutting out New Hampshire, and putting up some impressive defensive stats in the process. San Diego State held their opponent to just a 35% passing completion in Week 1, and one would have to think that some of this was done with their second and third string on the field in the 31-0 win. This is the second year in a row that San Diego State is playing Cal and the back end of their home-and-home series. Last year, Cal beat San Diego State by a score of 35-7 in Week 2, and that was with Jared Goff under center. San Diego State scored the first touchdown in that game, and went dark after that, allowing Cal to score 5 touchdowns straight against them. I think Cal starts slow again here, just slow enough to make Under 60.5 points your Saturday night College Football Pick.

2016 College Football Record: 3-2, +0.70 Units
