We had a crazy week 6 of SEC football which is what we have come to expect from the nation’s most competitive conference. This week we’ve got our eye on a few totals with Auburn versus South Carolina and the game of the season in college football so far, Georgia versus Alabama.
Georgia Bulldogs vs. Alabama Crimson Tide
Saturday, October 17, 2020 – 08:00 PM EDT. Bryant-Denny Stadium
Alabama Defense Will Have to Be Better
For most of the decade, no team has been able to match Alabama in terms of talent. In the last two years, Georgia has been able to match the Crimson Tide on the recruiting trail. Both teams have been ranked top two in recruiting class over the last few years. With that in mind, Georgia seems to have the talent to beat Alabama. This isn't the first time they've looked this way but have struggled to get the job done.
The weaknesses in Alabama's defense seem to indicate that this is the year for the Bulldogs and the betting public seems to agree. This line opened up at -7 on the SBR odds page and has been bet all the way down to -4 at most of the top online sportsbooks. Due to the volatility with this line, there are still some sportsbooks showing 5's and even 6's so we really suggest checking the odds board to get the latest available odds.
We're focused on the total here and I actually think that this game goes over. Although Georgia has one of the best defenses in the nation, Alabama has the ability to put up points against anybody. On the flip side, Alabama is giving up 30 points per game and I don't see any reason to believe they can slow down this Georgia offense. The total opened at 56 and has not really moved at all which is fine with me because I'm taking Under 56 (-105) at Bovada.
Please be advised that since the time of writing Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19, currently the status of the game is that it will be played, but stay tuned for any future developments.

Auburn Tigers vs. South Carolina Gamecocks
Saturday, October 17, 2020 - 12:00 PM EDT. Williams-Brice Stadium
Auburn and South Carolina Will Be Very Physical
This game is hard to call on the spread where Auburn are -3.5 point favorites but we're focused on the total here. I think this will be one of the most physical games of the season in college football. I think it will be run heavy and in all honesty, even though Auburn is the favorite, I'm not sure I trust them to be able to score consistently against this South Carolina defense that is very talented.
Auburn quarterback Bo Nix is a high ceiling low floor guy who can be very frustrating at times. To start the season, he is playing closer to his floor completing only 57% of his passes. He can make the most spectacular plays yet struggle with the routine stuff to the dismay of many Auburn fans. Both teams are coming off wins that nobody would classify as impressive but at least South Carolina can say they are 2-0-1 against the spread. Auburn meanwhile needed a miracle to beat an Arkansas team that while improved from last year, are far from a good team.
