When it comes to my top plays for this weekend, it's as easy as 1-2-3.  Previews and free college football picks for Florida State, Oregon and Alabama are just a click away.

There's nothing Will Muschamp and the Florida Gators would love more than to go to Tuscaloosa and beat Nick Saban's Alabama Crimson Tide.  But after a horrible downturn in 2013, are Muschamp and the Gators ready to take on a team the caliber of 'Bama just yet?

Better still, is Florida simply capable of covering the spread in its first visit to Bryant-Denny Stadium in four years?  That spread is currently Alabama -14.5, down from the opening salvo of 16 that SBR's live college football odds had a few days ago.  The 3:30 PM (ET) boot will be nationally televised by CBS, and the total is up a notch from the opener to 52.5 points

Florida missed seeing 'Bama on the schedule the last two seasons, and might as well have not shown up to face the Tide the three previous matchups, one of those in the '09 SEC Championship.  Alabama won and covered the three by a combined 101-35, never more than 8 point chalk, and hasn't lost to the Gators in Tuscaloosa since 1998.

We're also talking about a Florida bunch that had to go to triple-overtime last week to beat Kentucky, the Wildcats easily covering the 17 points line.  Even in the days of Pillsbury Throwboy Jared Lorenzen, no Gator team should have needed three OT's to beat the Wildcats.

And what about this No. 3 Alabama team we have here?  Saban gets to make the first statement this Saturday, and with the No. 1 Florida State Seminoles not having Jamesis Winston under center for the first 30 minutes against a big conference rival, he knows how big of a statement can be made.  I like the Tide to roll in this one, but prefer a lower-scoring affair even more for my free pick.

Winston's Antics Lead To Big Line Shift
Speaking of Winston and the 'Noles, news of his 1st-half suspension against the visiting Clemson Tigers sent the chalk on FSU tumbling.  The spread went out at 20, since falling to 16.5 with a similar effect on the total, which had actually climbed a point from the starting 63.5 and is now 60 to 60.5 points.  ABC will beam this to the nation and have plenty to regurgitate about Winston's obscene act when its broadcast starts at 8 PM (ET).

As always, my advice is to set those televisions to MUTE and just watch the action on the field, specifically when sophomore Sean Maguire is directing the Seminoles in the first half.  It's not like Winston and FSU rolled to easy victories the first two times out, and let's remember Clemson was right there with the Bulldogs in Georgia the first half of Week 1 before the Tigers let the game get away from them.

I'd love to see an upset in this one, but it ain't happenin' my friends.  I'm laying the points on FSU.

If It Quacks Like A Duck & Kicks Butt Like A Duck...
Meanwhile out west, the Oregon Ducks get to see a lot of what has happened throughout Saturday before they lace 'em up in Pullman against the Washington State Cougars. It's Oregon's first game away from home plus the Pac-12 opener for both teams, ESPN starting its broadcast at 10:30 PM (ET).

Oregon was slow out of the gate last Saturday against Wyoming, and that goose egg on the scoreboard in the first quarter was the reason the Ducks couldn't cover despite a comfortable 48-14 win over the Cowboys.  Mark Helfrich has bigger fish to fry on the upcoming conference schedule than Wazzu, where Mike Leach is trying to do an impossible job at a tough place to recruit.  Plus, it doesn't help that he's not really that good of a coach.

The Ducks are favored by 24 with SBR's live college football odds showing 76 for the total.  Oregon should be able to run Wazzu out of its own building, but I'm playing the 'over' for my free college football pick instead.
