Texas Tech is out of the Big 12 Championship race, but they still have plenty to play for this season. Can they upset the Oklahoma Sooners this Saturday?

Oklahoma may be the worst undefeated team in the Power 5 right now. The Sooners benched their Heisman hopeful at quarterback, and the freshman barely beat a one-win Kansas team. Even when Oklahoma (3-5 against the spread) covers the spread, the squad looks bad.

Texas Tech could secure bowl eligibility with a win over Oklahoma, but a lot of work lies ahead. All of the team's losses (4-3-1 ATS) have come against Big 12 opponents. The Red Raiders need an upset, but they're heavy underdogs this week.

Here are my picks and predictions for the college football Week 9 matchup between Texas Tech and Oklahoma (Odds via FanDuel, confidence rating based on one-to-five scale).

Texas Tech vs. Oklahoma Odds Analysis

Texas Tech opened as a 20-point underdog against the Sooners. While some sportsbooks have kept that line, others shifted it down to 19.

The Over/Under began at 67, but it's now down to 66.5. That happened along with the shift in the spread, projecting the game to be less likely to turn into a shootout. That's surprising because both teams lack a solid defense.

Texas Tech vs. Oklahoma Predictions

Texas Tech +19.5 (-110)

Oklahoma’s offense hasn't been consistent all year. Whether they stick with Caleb Williams or go back to Spencer Rattler, the Sooners struggle to finish drives. They rely on explosive plays and have committed turnovers at inopportune times.

The Sooners speed up play, making their stats look better on paper. However, the per-play averages of these two teams are nearly identical. That means this contest will likely come down to which side can control the pace.

Oklahoma’s largest win against a Power 5 team is 21 points, and the school usually hovers around a touchdown. The Sooners struggle to pull away until the very end of games, even against inferior opponents.

They likely won't get ahead big early on Saturday. And if Oklahoma earns a comfortable lead, it'll probably be too late to cover a spread of nearly three touchdowns. The Sooners are getting every opponent's best, and another poor outing feels possible.

Over 66.5 (-110)

The Over/Under is harder to predict. Oklahoma’s offense is fast-paced, and the Big 12 is known for high-scoring games. With a spread like this, both teams need to score at least three touchdowns while one pulls off a sizeable win.

Over/Under bets usually come down to how the losing team performs. I expect a strong start from Texas Tech in this one, and the Red Raiders should get 14 points on the board early. After that, their offense may sputter.

Each team's offense is better than the opposing defense, making a touchdown possible at any point. Oklahoma will be looking to get points on the board after a tough loss. While they may not cover the spread, the Sooners should be able to score at least 42 points. A 45-27 win covers the Over/Under while Texas Tech covers the spread.
