We’re going to examine the college football odds on the rivalry game between Auburn & Alabama that takes place on Saturday. Take the time to read our informative betting preview.

The 2015 Iron Bowl
Auburn (6-5) and Alabama (10-1) collide on Saturday for their annual “Iron Bowl” rivalry. The opening kickoff at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Alabama is slated for 3:30 PM ET. Current college football odds has Alabama as a 14 point favorite, and the posted total is 48.5. Alabama defeated Auburn 55-44 a season ago, and covered as a 10 point favorite. These teams have seen each of their last four meetings all go over the total.

Death, Taxes, Nick Saban, and Alabama Football
There are very few sure things in life, and virtually none of those involve sports betting. However, Alabama contending for a national title since head coach Nick Saban arrived in Tuscaloosa may be as close as it gets. Saban is now in his ninth year at Alabama, and since 2008, they’ve gone a remarkable 93-12 (.886), and won three national championships. The Crimson Tide was knocked off in last season’s national semifinal game by eventual champion Ohio State. They once again look like they’re primed to make another serious challenge this season, barring being upset by Auburn on Saturday, or in the SEC Title Game against Florida.

Chance to Salvage a Disappointing Season
Prior to the start of this 2015 college football campaign, many believed that Auburn would be one of the four participants in the New Year’s Eve college football playoff. That notion was quickly put to rest before the calendar turned to October. In a sequence of three straight games in September, they were forced to overtime before coming away with a 27-20 win over an FCS opponent in Jacksonville State, then were blown out 45-21 at LSU, and finally came a 17-9 home loss to Mississippi State. Gus Malzahn has gone from genius status in 2013, to a head coach on the proverbial hot seat just two years later. This game may go a long way in determining Malzahn’s future at Auburn, and an upset of their most fierce rival could serve to salvage a terribly disappointing season.

Final Analysis
I have a sneaky suspicion that Auburn will make this game a lot closer than Crimson Tide fans would like. Alabama is clearly the superior team on paper, and calling for an outright upset by Auburn would be a bit of a stretch. What I am going to do is have a small lean on taking the points for one of my college football picks this week.
