There are just six games on the ice on Friday night, so let’s have a closer look at the card. We’ve got NHL picks for three of the six contests along with supporting evidence as to why we like them. Read on below for our selections of the night.

Boston Bruins vs. New Jersey Devils
Odds: Bruins -120
The Bruins have been stinking up the joint in the month of February as they only have two wins in 10 games. Much of that has had to do with the play of goaltender Tuukka Rask, who has a mediocre .909 save percentage. However, he plays really well against the Devils as his 1.51 GAA in nine career meetings with New Jersey is his second-best mark against any team he’s faced regularly. As for his counterpart, Cory Schneider, he’s posted a 1.34 GAA in his last five overall and has allowed two goals or less in 13 of his last 14 games.

That being the case, I’ll go under the number in this spot on the posted NHL odds, expecting a low scoring affair.

NHL Pick: Under 5 at 5Dimes

Colorado Avalanche vs. Dallas Stars
Odds: Stars -123
The Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars have squared off four times this season and we’ve seen at least five goals in each contest. Given how the Stars goaltenders have played recently, I’ll be looking for another high-scoring affair in this one.

Dallas has given up 22 goals in their last four games, which is about as bad as it gets. Both Jhonas Enroth and Kari Lehtonen have been a disaster and the Stars have been giving up goals by the bucket load. As for the Avs, they’ve been leaning on Semyon Varlamov very heavily and while he had a solid month in January, he has not looked good in February. So far this month, he has a .904 save percentage and has allowed eight goals in his last two outings.

Stars home games have averaged 6.36 goals per game this season, so we’ll stick with that trend and go over the number here.

NHL Pick: Over 5.5 at Bodog

Los Angeles Kings vs. Anaheim Ducks
Odds: Ducks -110
I’m going to keep rolling with the Kings even though they are in a back-to-back situation after playing host to Ottawa last night. The Kings are playing their best hockey of the season and they’re on absolute fire right now. There’s really no good reason to bet against them in this spot – especially given how Anaheim has been playing.

The Ducks are coming off a 3-0 shutout loss at home to the Ottawa Senators and if they’re going to do stuff like that, they’re not going to have much of a shot against the Kings. While Los Angeles has been making an ascent up the standings, the Ducks have been heading in the other direction. They’ve now lost six of their last 10 games. They’ve also lost three of their last four at home while scoring just eight goals in the process, which is a bit of a concern.

The Kings are playing better and you get the better price with them. I’ll take them with my NHL picks here.

NHL Pick: Kings +100 at Pinnacle
