How will this week’s games shape up? Here are three free college football picks from the betting card from a very busy Saturday, with some totals choices that you might find appealing as a bettor.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons vs. Army Black Knights
Odds: 48.5
This is a game in which the score should be very low. Army scored just 17 points last week against Connecticut. The Black Knights managed just 265 yards, and nearly half of them came on two plays. They were contained, and their triple-option offense does not seem to have the speed or athleticism needed to be extremely explosive. Wake Forest does not offer a noticeably different level of firepower. The Demon Deacons are once again expected to finish at or near the bottom of the ACC. Two years ago, when these teams also met in West Point on Army’s home field, Wake Forest won by a score of 25-11. It could easily be argued that Army’s offense is worse now in comparison to then. If that is indeed the case, then this game should definitely fall under the number. If it goes over, it certainly won’t be by much. The only thing an under bettor should worry about in this game: defensive touchdowns.

South Florida Bulls vs. Maryland Terrapins
Odds: 51.5

The big thing to note in this game is that Maryland is going through a quarterback switch. Caleb Rowe is the new starter for this game, with Perry Hills and Daxx Garman being relegated to backups. Maryland head coach Randy Edsall has been extremely displeased with the performance of his offense so far this season, so he’s trying to shake things up in an attempt to get the attention of the rest of his team, particularly his offensive linemen and his wide receivers. He wants to make a change so that other players will feel inspired to do their part to help the offensive unit to improve. South Florida gave Florida State a good fight last week. The Bulls contained Florida State’s offense to keep the game relatively close after the first three quarters, but they just weren’t able to score that much. It’s true that Maryland’s defense was wiped out by Bowling Green last weekend, but South Florida’s offense shouldn’t pose nearly the same threat. Take the under here.

California Golden Bears vs. Texas Longhorns
Odds: 58
It’s true that California’s offense is explosive, thanks to quarterback Jared Goff, but the Golden Bears are playing their first road game of the season here. That will be an adjustment for them as they step out of Berkeley and make a flight to Austin. The other thing is that Texas, for all of its struggles, has a very good defensive coaching staff. Head coach Charlie Strong and defensive coordinator Vance Bedford are two of the sharpest defensive minds in all of college football. They should have a good plan in store for the Bears, keeping them at least somewhat contained. When you then consider how mediocre Texas’ offense has been the past few seasons, especially last year under Strong, this game feels like one in which it’s going to be very tough for both teams to match the number. The under is a solid choice.
