It is the last Saturday of September as conference action starts to heat up, and we have a couple of SEC totals for you to consider along with a nonconference clash that should feature plenty of scoring.

Today, let's cut the intro short and get to heart of the matter against the college football odds when looking at totals this week.

Line Moves Offer Value Depending on How You Think

At most sportsbooks, the South Carolina and Texas A&M tussle had an opening total of 55 and by Wednesday was down to 50 or 49.5. With the Gamecocks offense having struggled in recent outings, there must be a perception they will have trouble ringing up points on the Aggies. Also, the South Carolina defense has been stingy in permitting 20 points per contest against foes who have average 28.5 PPG. Personally, I am not buying it. Texas A&M still has an electric running game, and backup quarterback Kellen Mond has gotten comfortable and is making big plays. I realize South Carolina is 9-0 UNDER in SEC action with Will Muschamp as head coach, but for college football picks, my beliefs is the oddsmakers had it right the first time.

SEC Showdown on CBS Will Be Low Scoring

Georgia and Tennessee will go at in Neyland Stadium with Brad and Gary calling the game on CBS. Thus far, the Bulldogs defense has been meaner than a pitbull in permitting just 11.5 PPG vs. opposting teams that have scored considerably more at 28.8 PPG. With Volunteers coach Butch Jones feeling the heat from the Tennessee fan base, he understands this is extremely important game for him and the team. The Vols offense is rather pedestrian, making it incumbent on the defense to really slow the Georgia running game and keep them out of the end zone. With Georgia a 7.5-point favorite and a listed total at 47, look for a more defensive battle and ponder this: the Dawgs are 16-6 UNDER as a favorite the last three seasons and Tennessee is 9-1 UNDER at home off three or more consecutive Unders.

Add Up the Points in South Bend

Except for the Georgia, the Notre Dame offense has delivered big plays and 45.3 PPG. Though Miami Ohio's defense has done a good job in only allowing 19 PPG, it has not faced anyone close to Notre Dame that has the kind of offensive line the Irish do or runners with the kind of speed they possess. The Fighting Irish defense has been better than anticipated, yet is hardly elite, and the RedHawks will get there points at Notre Dame. With the sportsbooks' total at 53.5, the Irish end up winning 41-20, making this a relatively easy OVER play.
