How will this week 5 games adjust anything in terms of expected O/U & how much we generally think certain offenses are likely to deliver from week to week? Find inside our 3 Picks for this week.

Kansas Jayhawks vs. Iowa State Cyclones
This is a game in which the outright winner won’t be much of a point of interest, but the over-under becomes much more fascinating. These are two struggling teams, at the bottom of the Big 12 Conference. When two teams struggle, will their offenses or their defenses let down their guard more (or in equal measure)? It’s a very interesting question to ponder. Perhaps the most relevant point is that the weaker team – which is Kansas, a double-digit underdog – struggled much more on offense than on defense in its most recent game against Rutgers this past Saturday. If you accept the statement that Kansas is more likely to score a small number than give up a huge number, you would very probably lean to the under in this game. If, on the other hand, you think that Iowa State’s offense will run wild against Kansas’ defense, you should play the over. The feeling here, though, is that Kansas’ defense will be better than its offense, pulling this game under the College Football Odds.

Boston College Eagles vs. Duke Blue Devils
The big thing to note in this game is that Boston College has just lost its starting running back to an injury. Jon Hilliman was the team’s leading rusher, and he’s gone. With starting quarterback Darius Wade also out, plus starting center Frank Taylor (who is questionable) and tight ends Michael Giacone (out) and Louie Addazio (questionable) facing injury problems as well, it’s hard to see how Boston College will score much more than 14 points. Duke’s offense has not been doing well, either, with quarterback Thomas Sirk throwing very bad interceptions in each of his last two games against Northwestern and Georgia Tech. Duke did score 26 points last week against Georgia Tech, but two of its touchdowns came from kick returns. As long as crazy special teams plays aren’t part of this game, it should stay under the number. Take under with your College Football Picks.

Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. Baylor Bears (In Arlington, Texas)
It’s true that the number here is almost 50 full points higher than Boston College-Duke, but whereas Boston College-Duke is likely to go under the low number, this game is likely to go above the high number. Texas Tech just played a 107-point game against TCU, and Baylor has an offense which is every bit as explosive as TCU’s offense if not more so. The Bears are not that good a team on defense, so Texas Tech should be able to score at least 38 points. If you figure that Baylor will score in the mid-50s or higher, you would get a total in the mid-90s at the very least. Take the over here.
