Bowl season no longer features the best games after New Years Day. However, there is an exception, a shootout between high-powered offenses. We’ll look at Oregon-TCU & two other games on the card.

Alamo Bowl: Oregon Ducks vs. TCU Horned Frogs (Game in San Antonio)
Odds:
Oregon -7
This is a game in which there should be a lot of points. TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin will be close to 100 percent healthy after getting a month to recover following a punishing season in which he had to miss all of one game and portions of others due to an injury. Oregon quarterback Vernon Adams missed games in the middle third of the season, also limiting what Oregon could accomplish. The Ducks suffered for the period of time in which Adams, who had an injured finger, could not take the field. When he returned, the offense picked up in terms of tempo and production. The Ducks looked like their normal selves when Adams became healthy.

Which team is more likely to win this game, which feels like a shootout? It’s Oregon. TCU’s best receiver, Josh Doctson, will not play in this game. He was not able to heal from an injury suffered late in the season. That’s the kind of deficit a team probably won’t be able to afford in a situation such as this one. Take Oregon in what is basically a pick ‘em kind of game, almost a true moneyline situation.

TaxSlayer Bowl: Penn State Nittany Lions vs. Georgia Bulldogs (Jacksonville)
Odds:
Georgia -6.5
The key point to make here is that while Georgia’s coaching staff is in transition, which could certainly make it a lot more reasonable to pick Penn State, Georgia has a better defensive line in the matchup against Penn State’s much-maligned offensive line. Penn State is going to have a tough time blocking against Georgia’s pass rushers. It will be hard for Penn State to establish offense, and with Georgia having a month off in which to figure out some solutions to its struggling offense, the Bulldogs should be ready to play well. Georgia will also be excited to welcome a new head coach, Kirby Smart, and players will want to make a favorable impression two days after Smart coaches Alabama in the College Football Playoff. Take Georgia with your College Football Picks here.

Cactus Bowl: West Virginia Mountaineers vs. Arizona State Sun Devils (Phoenix)
Odds:
 West Virginia -1
This is a game in which the location should matter. Arizona State basically gets to play a home game, just not in its own stadium. The Sun Devils should be ready to put a frustrating regular season behind them. West Virginia wants to do the same thing, but Arizona State is in better position to do so. ASU quarterback Mike Bercovici is better than West Virginia counterpart Skyler Howard. West Virginia has really suffered at quarterback this past season, so Arizona State should have more answers at the position and a better chance of being able to score a high number in this game. Take the Sun Devils for the College Football Odds.
