Eight teams enter Week 8 with unblemished records, among them the Cincinnati Bearcats who are underdogs on the NCAA football odds in an early Saturday tilt at Temple.

One of three teams in the conference with perfect records on the entire season, Cincinnati opened as the underdog by a field goal and a hook at BetOnline, and that spread has stuck while the total has also stagnated around 48-48½.

Stopping Cincy Ground Attack A Must For Temple

Congratulations to anyone holding ‘over’ tickets on Cincinnati’s 4-win total which the Bearcats reached two games ago. A 100/1 pick on the college football futures to win the AAC before the season started, Luke Fickell’s troops have not only breezed to 6-straight wins, but brought home the cheddar with covers in five of the contests. The Bearcats have been getting the job done primarily with a ground game that ranks 10th nationally (255 ypg) and a defense that is third in scoring (13.7 ppg).

Geoff Collins’ Owls have also been making friends with bettors by covering the NCAA football odds their last five, the latest last Saturday at Navy in a 24-17 final to just scrape past a -6½ line. Sophomore QB Anthony Russo was prone to the pick earlier, but is coming off a couple of fine efforts the last two games against East Carolina and Navy, completing 44-of-56 (79%) of his passes for more than 550 yards. A sore ankle kept Ryquell Armstead on the sidelines against the Midshipmen, but the senior tailback is probable for Saturday and looking for his fifth 100+ yard effort on the campaign.

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

Black.
White.#Bearcats. pic.twitter.com/hggUg2qP1m
— Cincinnati Football (@GoBearcatsFB) October 17, 2018
\n"}[/]

Owls Seeking 4th Straight Win In Series

Temple leads the rivalry 12-7 plus a tie, and is looking for its 4th-straight win and cover vs. the Bearcats. Last year’s clash in Cincinnati turned on a kickoff return for a touchdown by the Owls in the third quarter, and the last three in Philly failed to reach the totals.

This game might be worth tuning in for no other reason than to see if Temple’s Freddie Booth-Lloyd, all 330 pounds of him, gets a chance to score his third TD of the season on a goal line run. In the end, however, I’m banking on a week off not robbing the Bearcats of the momentum they’ve built, and will take the points with my free college football pick.
