NCAAF: 2018 Week 1 Point Spreads

The 2018 college football season officially kicks off Aug. 30 with a Big Ten Conference game between Northwestern and Purdue, but the biggest Week 1 matchup takes place two days later when Auburn plays Washington in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Popular sportsbook 5Dimes already has point spreads for those games and others in Week 1.

Pac-12 side Washington (200/1 to win the 2018 CFP championship, Intertops) is losing defensive tackle Vita Vea to the NFL, but the Huskies (10-3 SU, 7-6 ATS in 2017) will return most of its offense, including quarterback Jake Browning and running back Myles Gaskin. Southeastern Conference power Auburn (75/1, Bovada) will lose top running backs Kerryon Johnson and Kamryn Pettway to the NFL, but the Tigers (10-4 SU, 7-6 ATS) are -4 favorites.

LSU and Miami will play Sept. 2 (moved from Sept. 1) in the AdvoCare Classic at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The SEC-ACC matchup, in which Miami is a 1-point favorite, is part of ESPN's five-day Kickoff Weekend package of games. Florida State will host Virginia Tech on Sept. 3, capping the fifth day of the ESPN showcase.

Florida Atlantic (750/1, Bookmaker), that Little Engine That Could, heads to Norman on Sept. 1 to face perennial Big 12 power Oklahoma (28/1, Bovada), who will see Heisman Trophy-winning QB Baker Mayfield leave for the NFL. In what might be a tougher game than most think, the Owls (1103 SU, 10-4 ATS) are huge 21-point road underdogs to the Sooners (12-2 SU, 8-6 ATS) at 5Dimes. There already has been significant woofing about this game.

Also on that first Saturday, Army (10-3 SU, 7-6 ATS) plays at improved ACC side Duke (7-6 SU, 7-5-1 ATS). The host Blue Devils, 9-point home favorites, ended last season with a big win over Northern Illinois in the Quick Lane Bowl and should take its 2018 opener by double digits. Duke leads the all-time series 13-11-1, although Army prevailed last season at West Point, 21-16.

The first three games of the season actually will be played before Week 1, on Aug. 25, with UMass hosting Duquesne, Rice hosting Prairie View A&M, and New Mexico State welcoming Wyoming.
