Wondering who to bet on between Memphis & SMU? The Mustangs have been the whipping boys of College Football so far, and that's unlikely to change against Memphis this weekend.

Odds Overview
Domination is expected when Memphis travel to take on SMU on their turf, as the Tigers are favored by a whopping 23 points at the top sportsbooks.

If you want to make a play on the total, the current number on College Football odds is 49.5.

SMU Mustangs
Are the Mustangs the worst team in college football? They've certainly looked like it so far this season.

Sure, SMU has played a lot of tough competition through the team's first six games, but that doesn't justify getting blown out each and every time the Mustangs have stepped on the field. They've allowed at least 41 points in each of their losses so far, and they've only reached double digits in scoring once.

It's just been a complete mess for SMU, and it was more of the same this past weekend at home against Cincinnati.

The Mustangs hung around for one quarter, as they were only down 6-3 through the first 15 minutes, but the wheels fell off soon after. All in all, SMU has 276 yards of offense, and they couldn't stop the Bearcats from doing whatever they wanted on offense -- Cincinnati finished with 508 yards overall.

QB Garrett Krstich struggled, completing 17-of-31 passes for 172 yards with zero touchdowns and two interceptions, while the run game could only muster up 98 yards on 24 total carries. The Mustangs had four turnovers in all (two picks, two lost fumbles) in the blowout loss, and will obviously need to protect the ball better to have a chance of even staying remotely close with Memphis this weekend.

Memphis Tigers
The issue for Memphis? A lack of consistency on a week-to-week basis. Through their first six games this season, the Tigers have alternated wins and losses each and every week.

That means Memphis comes in with an even 3-3 record, with wins over Austin Peay, MTSU and Cincinnati and losses to UCLA, Ole Miss and Houston. The Tigers hung around with both the Bruins and the Cougars, but they were outmatched from the get-go against the high-flying Rebels.

We last saw Memphis in action two weeks ago in a close loss to Houston at home. The Tigers lost 28-24, this coming after they had held a 21-14 lead at halftime.

Offensively, Memphis got a mixed performance from QB Paxton Lynch, who threw two touchdown passes (and ran for another score) but was also picked off three times. RB Sam Craft was held in check, but WR Tevin Jones came through with six catches for 72 yards and a touchdown.

It was on the other side of the ball that Memphis struggled, as they couldn't come to terms with dual-threat QB Greg Ward. Jr, who led Houstin in both passing yards and rushing yards. Surely the Tigers will be able to clamp down better defensively against the hapless Mustangs this weekend, however.

College Football Pick
How on earth can we recommend siding with SMU? The Mustangs have been a fade all season long, and we're not going to buck the trend until they show signs that they're going to at least be competitive.

The numbers speak for themselves. SMU is averaging a mere six points per game (#128 in the country) and has allowed a ridiculous 48.0 points a contest (#128) so far. The Mustangs haven't been doing anything well at all, and so we feel good about continuing to go against them with our college football picks.

Memphis has had a reasonably successful season thus far, and a meeting with SMU should give them a great chance to add another win to their record. Back the Tigers as one of your College Football picks, who have also had an extra week to prepare, to cover the large ATS number this weekend.
