The USC Trojans have been one of the more impressive teams nationally through two weeks of the season, which has caused them to be overvalued in the marketplace against the Boston College Eagles Saturday night.

Traveling to the East Coast
USC has to play back-to-back road games twice this season, as it looks to build off a 13-10 win over the Stanford Cardinal as three-point road underdogs last Saturday, but it was out-gained by a 122-yard margin in that affair.

The Trojans have won all four of their previous meetings against the Eagles, which is important to consider when making your Week 3 college football predictions, including a 35-7 victory as 14.5-point home favorites on Sept. 14 of last season.

Since the start of the 2012 campaign, the program is 5-3 SU and 1-7 ATS as road favorites, with the OVER cashing in five of those opportunities.

Youth Movement
Boston College head coach Steve Addazio knows his squad is going to be inconsistent at times, with 46 of his 98 total players being freshmen or sophomores, which clearly showed in a 30-20 defeat to the Pittsburgh Panthers as five-point home underdogs in Week 2.

The Eagles had plenty of holes to fill after Addazio’s first year on campus, with record-setting running back Andre Williams and four-year starting quarterback Chase Rettig moving on to the NFL.

College football handicappers will find that the squad has dropped its last three games as home underdogs of 17.5 to 21 points in straight-up fashion, but it has covered the number in each of those affairs.

Coming Off a Physical Football Game
There’s no doubt that the Trojans will feel the effects of coming off a physical football game against the Cardinal, especially since their still recovering from scholarship limitations that were placed on them by the NCAA.

First-year head coach Steve Sarkisian went 2-3 ATS as a road favorite during his five years at Washington before landing in Southern California, but he may be able to motivate the locker room in knowing that it has a bye week upcoming.

Starting quarterback Cody Kessler will need to manage to the football game, as he connected on 15-of-17 passes for 237 yards and two touchdowns in last year’s meeting.

Murphy is the Key
Tyler Murphy has tallied a rushing touchdown and passing touchdown in the first two games of the season, which makes the Eagles a dangerous underdog when looking over the Week 3 college football odds, as he also ranks second in the nation among quarterbacks with 210 rushing yards.

Through two games, Boston College has 28 plays that have produced more than 10 yards, with a lot of that success being attributed to an offensive line that has combined for 94 starts.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Eagles as one of their college football picks,  as they’ve covered the number in eight of their last 11 home games, while the Trojans are 3-11 ATS in their last 14 road affairs.
